Looking for some inspiration to give your home a short but sweet uplift? It’s a new decade, so it’s the perfect time for a small renovation and, after all the January blues, a quick home makeover should cheer you right up!
Hardware or ironmongery are usually the most overlooked detail in a renovation, however, choosing the right ironmongery product, such as door hinges, door handles and even door hooks, will make or break the final result. Chelsea Mamma published an article on ironmongery trends for this year, highlighting the importance of this type of hardware in interior design, so I’m not alone on this.
If you’ve never thought of ironmongery like this, think again. I’m sure that after reading this article, you’ll see ironmongery in a new light. So much that, next time you want a new door handle, you won’t be happy with the standard chrome handle, as there is an endless list of other stunning handles which would look perfect with your interiors (and you might become a little obsessed in finding the perfect one!).
- Trend #1 Black ironmongery.
Think: matte black handles on blue kitchen cabinets or even black door knockers and other black accessories on front doors. For me, matte black ironmongery looks dreamy! As Ironmongery Experts UK mention on one of their recent blog posts, black ironmongery is both elegant and bold and “it gives any room a luxurious and polished appearance.” I mean, what’s not to like?
- Trend #2 Mixing metals.
Mix and match your favourite metals around your kitchen or bathroom to create an interesting and stunning interior. Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and mix gold and silver – trust me, it will look incredible! If this is your first time mixing metals, Kate on Thin Ice recommends choosing a dominant metal tone and then add a couple of other finishes as accent tones.
- Trend #3 Sexy vintage.
Add some unique and sophisticated details to your interiors with some glamourous vintage-looking golden hardware, such as door handles. Vintage seems that is making a comeback this year and it’s definitely here to stay.
