How to Make the Most of Your Friend’s Birthday in Lockdown

by luxirare

It’s a tough time for everyone right now. We can’t go to visit our friends or family. Going out, in general, isn’t that easy anymore, and who knows when the world will feel more normal? The last thing people feel like doing is celebrating. However, if there’s one thing we have learnt from this it’s how people can still come together while being so far apart. If you’ve got a friend’s birthday coming up, it’s important you take the time out to celebrate the day with them. It will be different this year but they definitely won’t forget it.

  Thoughtful Gifts

You may not be able to hand over the present in person, but a thoughtful gift shows your friend you’ve been thinking about them. In times like this, the more sentimental the better. You can find something special to mark your friendship. It could be a scrapbook of your favourite memories, a cookbook with recipes you want to make together, or a couple of glasses and a bottle of wine – with the promise to open it and drink together in the future. Get something that feels right for the two of you. Personalised gifts and cards can be a message from the heart.

Online Party

We may not be allowed big gatherings at the moment, but thanks to the internet you can throw a party with as many guests as you like. Whether it’s a pub quiz, wine tasting, or a dinner party – you’d be amazed at the number of things you can do online. You could even attempt a surprise party by telling your friend it will just be the two of you, and then get everyone else in the chat a couple of minutes into the conversation.

Virtual Experience

Maybe you had plans to take your friend somewhere special for their birthday. The world may be shut down at the minute but so many places are still open for you to see. You can money on travel as well as all you need is an internet connection. Whether it’s the wonders of the world or museum or gallery tour – you can take a virtual trip together and wait until you get to see the real thing someday.

Lockdown is hard, but it’s important to remember that we’re all in it together. Cherish your loved ones and let them know you care about them. How would you celebrate a birthday in lockdown?
