White Leather Purse
The weather has gotten so hot that while I was designing this bag I thought of words like “cool” “fresh” “icy” and I kept all these words in my head while I was making it. I wanted it to be a small/casual bag for summer time. The chains are actually aluminum covered in oxidized silver so they are not heavy at all. The bag was made with lambskin leather and is completely handmade except for the zipper and the plastic lining.

Bag Patterns

The lining. I used plastic lining for the bag (completely transparent) so that the little triangular cutouts would not be compensated. I tried nude tulle lining at first and it totally killed the look of the bag.

Process Photos

Leather hole punchers.

I used this rivet machine alot. This machine was crucial to the production of this bag.

*The bag will be for sale in the store for $700 USD. There will only be one available for purchase.

now if only i had 700USD. (: amazing as usual. thank you!
welcome!
Love it. The twists of leather in the chain remind me of backbones and anatomical drawings of the spine.
Wow , amazing bag looks like a shark
what complicated process! thank you for sharing this with us
Wait, what store? Have I missed something utterly amazing such as a Luxirare store – that would make my oh so miserable weekend every so wonderful!!! Where can I find it?
Wow! This is so great. I love the plastic lining but the whole look is great! The cutouts look like shark teeth.
It must be so satisfying when someone asks you where you got your clothes/shoes/bag to tell them, “I made it”. Thanks for sharing.
I’m pretty sure its not as satisfying as someone buying it.
I love the pattern. Great design!
p.s. Where are you selling, and who did the photography?
The photography is by me.
Again with the innovative presentation that lets the piece speak for itself. I love that you never use models or a tawdry display of skin. While I hardly disapprove of nudity in fashion/art, I hate the way it is used to sell goods–the object should be beautiful enough to stand on its own, not the arm of a striking 15-year-old waif!
I think it would have looked even neater with crushed ice and maybe some dry ice, but you wouldn’t want to mess up the leather I’m sure.
Well even if I wanted to use models I could never afford to hire a model just to photograph goods on this blog. Even then I don’t have the balls to tell a girl to drop her pants for something I made. But if I had that money to burn I think I’d spend it on caviar rather than hire a girl to sell the bag. Besides, those kinds of marketing tools are growing less and less effective. A 15 year old waif never made me want something.
mind-blowing as usual!
WOW that is so cool, how long did it take you to make it?
love it! the inside and the outside, so original!
Awesome job! I love the bag. xo
Mind blowing as usual. Love it!
Absolutely GORGEOUS construction!
I was about to say that you should totally sell this bag! I wonder, do you ever think about making online shop for LUXIRARE? Or does it already exist?
flashfashfash.blogspot.com
fantastic! You’re impressively creative.
In Class, En Vogue
Hi there, I love yur blog and I frequently wonder how you have come to know about these kinds of constructions. Could you recommend references or sources from which we too can learn about leather crafting, bag construction, shoe construction, et cetera? Thanks!!!
Such an intricate and beautifully crafted piece.
glorious, white hot, flawless, etc…haha. I love it Ji. It’s the perfect small but functional summer bag to get all the essentials in but still keep it’s freshness by being one of one.
are you not so sad to let these things go? one-of-a-kind, stunning, handmade by you… i could never let anything like this leave me xx
oh I never get attached to anything I make, at all. No emotions what so ever. There are always better things to make/newer ideas you know? And anyway I have the patterns so if I really want to see it I can just make another one..but I doubt I will.
I don’t think you know how stunningly inspiring you are; I’m seriously considering replicating this, as well as the shoes, the two chain jackets, those MJ tributes… they are so creative and impeccably designed and manufactured x
The bag is so neat and amazing at the same time! And why cant I see anything Im typing?
Fabulous, and I love the clear plastic lining.
Good call on the plastic lining… nude lining would have added too much warmth to a piece that you’re trying to keep cool in aesthetic.
Can’t wait to see what other goods you plan on putting in your store. Just out of curiousity, are you thinking about selling garments in size runs or is everything going to be sample size?
amazing. i love how it screams LUXIRARE without having to have it emblazoned across the front. there’s this slightly creepy almost skeletal quality to all those strips of white leather running all over the bag.
dustbag looks great too! i like dustbags for some reason, and not just because they protect my handbags from dust.
Really clever idea to use plastic lining! I really hate it when bags have black or dark colored lining, sometimes i feel like i need a torchlight to find something in my bag.
I love how you are always venturing out to create new, different things – clothes, food, shoes and now bags too!
sooo amazingg!!!
A very interesting design, you are so talented , really impressive .
That’s intense. It reminds me almost of monster teeth?
This bag is amazing – I love it.
WOW!. How much!?
I “oh man oh man”-ed through this entire post. And I also adore that you show the products without models or skin, the whole attention is on the brilliance of the craft and design, not the fact that you would want to sell it.
p.s come on people, it’s written there, $700. Must you really not read.
Oh my! That is brilliant!
xx
what is your store? Is it an online sort of deal?
hahah “a deal”. Yes its an e-shop.
this bag is so genius. i love it! and even though it’s “icy” and “cold”, that lambskin looks sooo sooooft.
<333 it.
Thanks !!!
AMAZING. holy hell.
fabulous! Very organic and alive somehow…
This is *gasp! You’re no doubt a visualist. Thank you so much for sharing, your blog is truly inspiring.
I’ve seen quite a few woven leather and chain bags around but this still feels very original. I like the complex weaving detail and the smaller chain structure. The chains look so heavy but if they are made of aluminium they must be quite light. How much does the bag weigh?
Your designs are always so intricate and well thought out. It is truly inspiring to see. My favorite part is the clear plastic lining. I think the hidden details are the most important…
I agree with you on the hidden details thing. The devil is in the details.
You, my dear, are an amazing craftsman. And designer. And photographer.
Thank you so much for your blog!!! (I’m going to keep saying this)
xo
d
I have to stop by and say how fucking awesome your projects are! I’m so looking forward to the future of luxirare!
wow… mind blowing. i’d carry this every single day. love.
Ah! Love the plastic lining, it is stain proof and waterproof, the thought of water with leather scares me too much. This can be your signature bag interior maybe?
hahahah I don’t know about every bag…
i hope you dont mind me using your pictures, i credited. i’d take them down if youd like.
anyway, once again, amazing.
So beautiful.
Your talent is so amazing!
Where can we find your e-store?
(PS: You are amazing! The careful thought you put into your pieces translates so strongly to your readers!)
Congratulations on your first bag! (If I’m not mistaken) It looks funky but very elegant at the same time which is hard to achieve.
Love the lining! It’s something you can actually clean. Perfect for our germaphobe world.
Is that a secret pocket at the bottom, where you put the credit card? I love bags with different compartments and pockets!
I have to ask, why did you put the bag on ice? I’m concerned that it ruined the leather :s
It’s a pity there’s no picture of you wearing the bag, I’d love to see how the handle would sit on the shoulders, and how low does the bag hang..
no it didnt, but thanks for your concern.
where is the store? I cannot seem to find it :S
Its not done yet! Give it some time, I’m working on it.
gorgeous. i don’t have the $700 but it’s ok. i really love the photos, and the hints about the process. do you sleep at all?
Another awe-inspiring post. The intricate details are just amazing. I would so love to be able to make my own bag someday. Can’t wait to see what other amazing things you’ll have in the store! Although I probably won’t be able to afford any but would love to look at all the beautiful creations anyway.
The store will not be as amazing as you think I’m afraid I will only have a very small selection of my own merchandise.
Magnifique !
WOWIE!
Oh wow you are selling one of your designs! I thought this day would never come! Do you think you will be selling more of your creations in the future or is this a one off for now? Loving your work as always
I may I am looking for production right now. So many details to work out too little time.
i need this.
the ice is brilliant.
the black backdrop is perfect. really dramatic
Stunning. How long did it take you to make this?
i cant really tell how big it is. I think you should post a picture of you wearing it because the proportions are rather unclear without scale.
just a thought- we all know you are a bit of a perfectionist.
I’m swamped right now didn’t have time to model for it. I will do it once I get the chance.
It looks like a real puzzle putting that pattern together. Did you have to make a bunch of mockups to figure out the lacing and weaving through the chain situation?
You seem to be professional whatever you do.
You also seem to be a very independent person.
Thank you for wonderful photos and inspiration. Where I can buy your works?
where the hell is your e-store.
can’t find it anywhere.
your website is so confusing.
lol…sorry!!
I don’t normally comment, but I really have to with this one. This bag is absolutely stunning. You’ve done such a wonderful job on it – it looks immaculate. You can tell you are a perfectionist!
You are such an inspiration to me. I’ve been thinking I might want to branch out into using leather a little, but never had the courage. You’ve shown me that with patience, and the right tools, it can definitely be done.
Clare x
I am proud of you. You are a great inspiration. The bag is just so… rawr!
I wonder if you are thinking of trying to do some resin work. I’d really like to see your take on it.
i love how you made a dustbag too. of course you would. i would expect nothing less
plastic lining is genius. i wish i could have a plastic lining insert for every single one of my bags to preserve them and protect them from key scratches and pen marks and every other little hidden nuisance.
what’s this about an e-store? are we finally going into production?? YAY JI!
ps. i finally procured the bulb heels. my lights flicker though. do yours?
gosh, the weaving together between the chain is so clever yet so simple
my favourite part is actually the shoulder support halfway along the chain!
It looks kinda skeletal in my opinion. Thanks for your comment.
This whole website is flawless.
false. but thank you for your comment.
I ALSO LOVE THE CLEAR PLASTIC LINING, BUT NOT MORE THAN CHAIN WEAVED WITH LEATHER, IT LOOKS LIKE A SPINAL CORD! ONCE AGAIN, YOU HAVE BLOWN MY MIND AWAY, LUXI. LOVE IT, LOVE IT SO ICY SO FINE. JUST PURE ORIGINALITY AND NOVELTY.
• I’M SURE I WILL BE SEEING SOME MOUSE CLICKING COMPETITION ON WHO IS GOING TO GET IT FIRST!
Hi Rafaelina, Thanks for your comment as usual. Always entertaining to hear your capitalized thoughts. I highly doubt there will be a mouse clicking competition. HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt it.
Lovely. The intricate details of the sides of the bag are great!
like bleach white braids or great white shark teeth. make one more and save it for me.
i love that you put it on ice! i could be super cliche and tell you that it’s THAT hot – but alas, i am no paris hilton and will instead simply reinforce previous comments that this bag is amazing!

oops sorry for that double post !
its okay!! Thanks so much for leaving a comment. I say “thats hot” all the time.
Amazing, as usual…I’ve always wanted to make a leather purse. I’ve sown some stuff with fabric and want to work with pleather, but haven’t made the leap yet. I do have a question though…where did you purchase the chains? Is there a supplier online? I make jewelry and would love to use them.
That bag is DOPE.
I’ve been reading for a few months and love your blog. I had to finally comment on the bag. You are out of control, girl. In a good way of course!
Hi Luxirare, like everyone else I absolutely LOVE everything you do.
Maybe this is just me being stupid, but when I click for your archive I get a “page not found” message.. is your archive still available, because I really want to show someone your incredible bento box…
Keep up the amazing work
Peter, thanks for your comment. I am re-designing the site again back to the older format, This format will go. I’m going to display two posts on one page, and all my older posts will be available in the bottom portion of the site. You will easily find ALL OF them. The archive page is gone b/c I’m not going to use that format anymore. New site coming soon!
DDANGGGGGGGGGGGG!! i used to have this cheapy white pleathery purse in college that had a thick chain strap and lots of hardware but it didnt hold up for shit.. you just brought me SO back though and i love you for that. i’ll buy this in a damn heart beat. i love the white, the cute and weaving and just freaking everything. i mean you made it. DUH
This is incredibly cool! I need to take up a cool hobby like bag-making! The only problem is I’m a control freak so my attention to detail would probably take over.
Thanks for having a great blog! Every new post just makes my day!
What is the website where we can buy these beautiful things?
if there’s really a store i bet many of us aka your readers, would like to see the quartz ring you made a while ago on sale. your price is preety steep though USD700 O_O
HOLY crap. Where does one find a chain like that?! This bag is absolutely amazing. Blew my mind, yet again, you!!!!!!
A white bandage dress with lambskin and chain detailing in a similar style would be kickass!
wow. i’ve been reading your blog for really long and your works are honestly astounding. Now, i’ve been wanting to buy some branded leather bag for 600++, but after seeing the real, personal hard work being put into your piece…. i’d rather pay the 700 for this. pity i live on the other side of the world!!!
out of control good.
@Luxirare BAHAA somehow I knew you’d respond with something like that. It really is top though, you create masterpieces with two of my most favorite interests. clothes and food.
I am always so impressed by your dedication and execution. You’ve definitely helped inspire me to start sewing with leather. Beautiful as always.
so glad you went back to your fashion projects! while i love your food projects, i was hoping for something that showcased your creativity and how you actually make stuff. i think a lot of difference between good and CRAZY GOOD artists is their ability to MAKE something new, not just reproduce it in a stylistic manner.
this has put you back up in CRAZY GOOD!
What a creative and unique piece! Amazing job.
So so gorgeous!
I want it!
Thanks!
Damn, girl. Keep up the good work. :]
I don’t know if you read Neatorama but your mini-pie pops were featured!
http://www.neatorama.com/2010/03/27/shove-a-stick-up-your-food/
Woah! This bag is one of the raddest things I’ve seen in a while! Def worth the 700 schillings!
Mind-blowing as usual!! Your genius is NOTHING LESS THAN Decarnin!!
It is funy how people care about the fact you placed it on icecubes .!
Once again, A really beautifull item. Where did you get the chain ?
super inspirational and unique!
http://www.simpleebliss.blogspot.com
How could you be so talented !!!
INCREDIBLE. Mind=blown as always! I would totally buy one in a larger size, especially in a camel colored leather. Do you take custom orders? You probably get asked all the time. halcoholic@gmail.com xo
HALCOHOLIC.com
OMG
you’re fantastic. this bag is heaven!
Holy shit. You never cease to impress me. Just when I thought my jaw couldn’t drop more from your post where you made those awesome wedge boots, you go and MAKE AN AMAZING BAG. You’re fabulous.
Hey, just flicking through UK edition of Elle and your blog is mentioned! (page 105)… Looks like you’ve gone mainstream!
Amazing bag! The detail is fantastic!
ha if it weren’t for you I would not know anything..ever.
Oh my goddess. If this masterpiece is still available, I would like to purchase it. Please let me know. You are beyond words amazing. xo, @idstyled

I would kill for a bigger mens version of this baaaaaaaaaaggggggggg. I wish I could afford to commission you, Ji.
Love this, and it’s great you’re venturing out to try new things! (Assuming this is your first bag? Have you designed others before?)
wow, great photography and awesome bag! Nice construction photos too
Again, such a wonderful piece! Your designs always look alive, like they beating hearts of their own. I also always find your photographs so intimate to the detail of your construction. Almost as though I am the piece being made!
im craving a luxifood entry
omg, this is beautiful. you should seriously set up a store/boutique and even start selling to barney’s and net-a-porter, etc. heheh
when can i buy it? where can i buy it?
amazing. i love it. how did you get into making bags?
great post as usual!
this bag is amazing. i need one. did you think of making one out of canvas or some other material?
….your work is beautiful and esp since is is made with care.i was doing product development for couple of ‘luxe’ brands.
i love it!! we would love to know a bit more about you for our site. pls drop a line.

you are so talented, reading your blog makes me want to cry. AND i really want this bag. so. bad.
i want this bag so much. going to cry!
sorry but just wondering if anyone’s bought this bag?!
heh. one can hope…
Hello Luxuriare! I just saw your amazing blog and am going to follow it. I just wonder, what did you study? Fashion, art, design? I think you have a unique sence of fashion and art, so I’m interested, where does it all come from… Thank you!
Ramina
Talk about UGLY! it looks like something ripped it up!! I just want a plain small white leather purse, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK???!?
I am happy to find so many useful information here in the post
Good site! I really love how it is easy on my eyes and the data are well written. I’m wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I’ve subscribed to your feed which must do the trick! Have a great day!
