Visual description of the heat outside…
I am not a fan of summer. I have seen way too many cut off shorts and display of skin on both sexes (yes I know that people wear less when it is hotter outside). I am sure summer season is a visual feast for men. Don’t get me wrong I am not a quaker– I just like to see people clothed. Its just a visual preference, regardless of the weather. I know it is very hot outside but I am still wearing jeans and my handy blazer. Yes I am “that” person who doesn’t dress appropriately for the weather. Anyway….
A figurine…..

How I feel when I am outside!!!

I picked up this candle a while ago in Paris (Marais district) and I didn’t even know it was a candle until I saw the wick? Just looked like
any normal porcelain figure to me!

hehe that candle is so cute
why dont u wear something lighter maybe?like a blazer made of linen or lace?
Cool photos. Can I ask, what did you study when you were at Parsons?
Love these shots of the candle!
The candle is a little horrific really…melting baby and all of that. Though I understand why it’s relevant to the weather (even over here in London!)…
I totally know what you mean – I hate hot summer weather too for the same reasons – & I still wear my blazer at times lol
awesome photos
sometimes there is more beauty in destruction than perfection
I absolutely HATE summer! Which is a pain seeing I live in Australia and it got to 47 degrees last year. Think that’s around 117F?
I’m the same way. I really prefer not to see people half naked unless I’m at a beach or park.
Such beautiful photos. What a dramatic candle. Once it’s halfway down it’ll just be a tiny pair of legs!!
The heat is unbearable. I have no idea how you wear jeans in this weather.
The candle is cute. Makes me wonder what kind of mold they used.
Agreed – hot weather is sometimes just an excuse to bare all. Kind of like Halloween for college girls. Great photos; very artistic display of seemingly everyday images
that is exactly how i felt about an hour ago!! its unbearable
Neat candle. At first I thought it was some ceramic display.
You forgot to mention how SOME people smell! I hate sweaty stinky people around me!!! It’s really gross. I only like summer because of camping, ice creams/frozen yogurt (well I eat them all year), and the big reason is NOT having to blow dry my hair and use curling iron regularly. I love spring/fall! I don’t mind winter either.
Love these shots – beautiful and painful to see (I know, kind of a strange description).
Horrific…
i totally relate.
That’s an epic candle! Who would’ve thought, haha
thank you- someone besides me dislikes summer! i used to rather like the season, til i spent 12 years in the tropics and that cured me for a while. i tried to ignore the summer/fall heat (boots in the caribbean- been there, done that) but i pretty much gave up eventually.
agree about the display of skin. it’s just yucky sometimes. and i’m also no prude. i’m temporarily in south florida, so you can imagine how that is, skin-wise.
i love that candle! i want one.
Those pictures are so beautiful, they make me want to cry! I’ve been reading your blog, and I think that this shoot has the most emotion and poignancy.
Keep up the great work on your fabulous blog!
I can empathise…
Everyone seems to be outside merrymaking in shorts and pretty summer frockfuls of flowers, and yet – like a moth to a flame, or indeed your candle – I keep sneaking away to Net-a-Porter to lust over winter coats.

I was able to find some amazing fur coats the other day, despite the crazy heat. Ironic. I can’t wait for winter.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! This post made me Spit Milk!
I know exactly what you mean! I live by the sea, in Florida where it is pretty warm from April until October a much longer summer season than most places. Also this is a tourist-y place sooo you can only imagine the sight I see on a daily basis : >
I could not agree with you more! Summer is my least favorite season. I love your blog! So glad to have found it!
This post is just brilliant and is exactly how I feel too. Melting…
This is beyond doubt the most amazing candle I’ve ever seen. You don’t happen to remember where exactly in Paris you bought it? Thanks. x
I feel the same way about summer, the sun, and heat in general. I love layers, textures, fall and winter.
hi! do you know how to make a candle look like porcelain?
