Sheer Monkey
I’ve always felt a bit embarrased of my posts, just because you know its sort of this permanent thing on the web with your name forever attached to it; like some sort of tattoo. I will say that this post is probably more embarrasing to me than usual because it involves my long enduring obsession with Monkey fur. I find women who talk about furs more than once a week sort of tacky but I can’t deny its my favorite of all skinned animals due to it’s grotesque and gothic quality. The idea of wearing monkey fur and considering it “fashionable” or “beautiful” to me is sort of ridiculous when you think about HOW MUCH women go through to get rid of all the hair on their bodies. Weird right? I really need to shave my legs.
It’s like pizza with all of the fixings. Nauseating. Nude underlayer with sheer black tulle on top with strips of Monkey Fur V-stitched on? AND STUDS?@?@?@ What is wrong with this picture?!!

Purple Silk Shantung lining. I like silk but Silk Shantung has a crisp, organic quality you can’t deny.
T-shirt and monkey fur together at last. A bit repetitive but again I should get some
credit for consistency.
What I think in my head, and how it came out in real life. Always a little dissapointing but I still like it alot. I made this last year around November but I’ve found a million other ways to make this jacket a MILLION times better. Its amazing what you realize after your first prototype. More fur jackets to come, by Luxirare of course. Working with fur is no joke.

i was actually talking to my mother about monkey fur and she told me that it was the fur to have back in the day. she gave me her full length mink which is sitting in my closet, waiting to make another appearance. speaking of fur, could you be a dear and check out my latest post? i need some advice…

I can’t believe you made the jacket yourself! Crazy cool. I think the appeal of monkey fur is the fur hangs kind of like human hair – it has a shaggy drape to it. Not sure if that makes sense. Love your blog!

i love the idea/look of monkey fur because it’s reminiscent of a scalped human head and i would get a huge kick out of horrifying over-wrought PC folks.

p.s. i have just bought a vintage blue fox fur and was wondering if at all possible to make the sleeves de-tachable, so it could kind of be a gillet or a coat- if you have any ideas i will love you forever

God, I’ve been drooling over all that monkey fur since you first showed it off. Question: where did you buy the monkey fur? Is it vintage?
I can't lie; I own my fair share of A. Wang pieces, too. But seriously, he ain't Balmain. But that Wang dress (THE killer dress) is ruining my life. I ordered it from eluxury, but then they cancelled it. When I called them & asked why they are trying to give me a heart attack, the girl on the phone said that the computer system had a "glitch" (her word) and double sold the dress. SO NOT FAIR!! I ended up sending emails to nearly every single small boutique that's ever sold Wang and finally tracked one down. Hopefully i'll be getting mine, soon….
otherwise, i'm going to cry as i see how wonderful you look in yours (but i will be happy for you because it seriously is one of the best things he's ever made)

this post is even funnier when you think about the beliefs of the members of the band Crass were environmentalists and anti-consumerists, anti-materialists, and were anti-corporations. I think it’s safe to say, they spat in the way of “luxury” items.
I eat meat, wear animal skins, etc, and still love the music of Crass, but there is a certain amount of flaunting that we could all do without– on both ends of the spectrum, don’t you think?
Make me a jacket and I would die a happy woman…
