Schiaparelli belonged to the 5% people in fashion with the best ideas, imagination, influences, and inspirations, period.

gloves are so underrated. I wish more people wore them.

first- i totally agree with anastassia, “gloves are so underrated”.
next- schiaparelli is one of my favorite designers. (i did a tribute to her on a post from several months back). i love that her work was incredibly surreal, cheeky, irreverent- because of that, she wasn’t as “famous” as others from her time, but she did what she loved and turned fashion on its ear. my very favorite of her designs has to be the skeleton dress: the minimalism, the workmanship, the way it fit the body- incredible.
thank you so much for showing us these pics! i didn’t know about her black gloves with red nails. how cool to see them! and now, you’ve got me wanting the “shocking” book…which i see amazon has from a few sellers. must have that.

She has been bought out, and is in fact back in business once again.
So we should see something special soon.

The black with red fingernails make me think of bleeding fingernails…..I am grossed out, but intrigued by them! I love the pale green gloves and the accompanying story. It’s easy to see that the stitching and detail on both is impeccable. Thanks for this snippet.

i studied her during my art and fashion class…..her work is so amazing visually but i think her greatest advantage were in her concepts. In my opinion conceptual fashion designer of today i.e. comme des garcons, hussein chalayan etc produce more intriguing fashion than their conteporarries.
