Sant Angelo Pastry Shop, Ischia
This is my last Ischia post, after this I headed to the mid-region of Italy which was work-related so this last day in Ischia was bittersweet. Sant Angelo is one of the most beautiful areas of Ischia, it is filled with small pathways that sit on tiny slopes next to the ocean. The best time to walk around Sant Angelo is between 5-7 when the sun starts to set. Sant Angelo is also considered the “best beach area” in Ischia but I can’t be sure of this because I didn’t get to see the whole island (Ischia is pretty huge, at least in comparison to Capri).

There are also small shops on these walkable pathways which are built next to old rock formations.

A view from the walk way in Sant Angelo. I think I posted this photo already.

Along these narrow streets there are so many restaurants with amazing views. A couple of friends below are lucky to have this corner seat.

While walking around at night I came across this small pastry shop, within the shop there are seats in the back with an open wall overlooking the ocean. There were only three ocean front seats in this cozy shop.

A young italian couple enjoying the view below with a glasses of Prosecco.

Italian strawberry tartlette with custard cream and jelly glaze on top. The strawberries here are very small.

I called this the lemon bomb but I forgot its proper name. The outside cream is made of lemon while the inside is filled with a dense cake like texture.

Strawberry Canoli

This place = “Pasticceria Dolce รจ la Vita” in Sant Angelo, Ischia in case you are interested.

Too good.
Those looks like wild wood strawberries (it’s not a perfect translation from the Swedish word “Smultron”), I wouldn’t classify them as strawberries, more like a relative – since they don’t really taste the same only look like miniature ones! It sure looks tasty though…
Again, thank you…you should make a book with your pictures, I’m sure it’ll get published. I answered to your question about the name Ciccio in the other post.
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in Italy and I hope you’ll come back to Ischia again one day!
M.
I dare you to recreate the lemon bomb. But this time for realz. Like a LOT of lemon.
The “lemon bomb” is locally known as “Delizia al Limone.” Translation: A Lemon Delight. And trust me, if you haven’t already experienced this tasty creamy, lemony, puff delight, make your way to the Amalfi Coast, Ischia or Capri and treat yourself. My wife and I had a local Pasticciere make our wedding cake of all Delizia al Limone when we married in Amalfi…Safe to say I practically dove into it when they served it! These pix make me cry for Amalfi!
OMG I want some too. It looks so good!

If your other posts didn’t convince me, this one did. I must visit Ischia. Those pastries!
I’d be very interested to know how you manage while traveling — what you bring, wear, how you approach locals, and overcome language barriers. Too often I find myself overcome with anxiety at the prospect of being in a foreign place (perhaps it’s my repressed memories of mortifying school trips). How do you escape the categorization of “just another tourist”?
Mediterranean Sea (not Ocean:)
I want that lemon thing! It looks so good. x
Seriously gorgeous scenery!

I think you’re right. It is wild berries or where I come from, we call them strawberries from the woods, because they grow in the forest. But they are hard to find, and though they are so small and not very sweet, they have a much richer taste than ordinary strawberries, but they are not considered as a “mini version of strawberries”, because they taste so differently compared with ordinary strawberries..
The strawberries there look like raspberries!
Oh wow. The scenery is beautiful. And the food looks delicious. Lovely. Just lovely xxx

Lovisa and X are totally right: these are wood strawberries (Fragaria vesca). They are very common in Europe, especially here in Austria, and you can plant them in your garden too – we have them. The taste is different (for me much better than ordinary strawberries) and unlike X I would say that they are pretty sweet as well.
Everywhere you went looks so peaceful and serene. (: My kind of holiday.
Not sure if it’s due to the areas you travel to or the off peak season, but it makes the atmosphere more magical.
Did you travel alone?
Om nom nom nom.
omygod, that looks like heaven.. sigh
x
You are really making me want to start traveling again. Time to go back to Europe….That is, after I go gorge myself on less-awesome pastries
Ohhhh these look so delicious! Gorgeous photos.
Such beautiful pictures!
Pastry heaven!!!!!! I bet those strawberries were so tasty. In Asia the fruits are small but packed in flavor. Unlike here in Canada/US, it seems like everything is forced to grow bigger, hence it ends up tasting just like water. Like they use “botox” everything to look plump.
that view is stunning. would not mind, at all, waking up to that every morning…
you stir my wanderlust. i had to visit google streetmaps for more pictures of this place but they are not the same. i wish you never leave the continent ; sure feels like you belong here more than america..
The site and foods look wonderful! Oh, how I wish I were there at this very moment. Thank you for sharing.
