Pleats

This headband is by Rackk + Ruin, her pieces are available here. They are all beautiful, but now I have my eye on the braided one with bigger studs.
I actually don’t wear headbands often because they give me headaches. These don’t, they are extremely comfortable and adjustable to your head size..

Vintage plaid dress with pleated skirt, top, shoes by Luxirare.

Coat, vintage faux broadtail (I think this is the kind of fur it is?) with faux fur collar.

Pleated vintage skirt with strange top/vest I’ve had for years worn as a..belt thingy? I can’t even close up all the buttons because its made for the top of my body (can’t close all the buttons there either cause its too small) but I can close the first one…Sheer top + necklace is also vintage.

Cow Jacket…I recently found this at one of my vintage wholesale appointments.

I love that headband too! Rack + Ruin makes a pretty mean one…I’ve wanted to make my own…but it’s rather ambitious. A crown of metal spikes…mmm. And nice one on the jacket
we used to have to have a couch made of something similar….real wild wild west sorta vibe.
xx
V
yea they are too good, I want the braided one too.
AMAZING
Only you can do this/pull this off..
The cow jacket is very characterful – quite critter like – what a find!
That first outfit makes me think of an anime character. If I had any drawing skills I’d totally illustrate you.
love R+R pieces. i have the hair necklace and it’s an great conversation piece.
Your photography is AMAZING!
No way! My photos suck when it comes to the fashion shots. The food shots are way easier because I don’t have to use the remote or self-timer.
Ah! So many stunning pieces! Love the plaid dress, vintage coat, the ‘cow’ jacket, and your chair!
xx
pleated perfection. so glad julia introduced me to your blog a few months ago, and so sad we never met while we were at parsons!
I think the cow hide jacket is a perfect object
Thats what I thought when I found it…
Love the detail!
Love the plaid dress! Great photography.
omg omg omg omg, the chair [idk why that killed me] it’s so perfect. okay so like I was thinking about your cross necklace, why can’t someone make a cool one for the jews with different stars of david. So I too can rock my religious symbolism out like a kewl kid.
hahaha Yes a jew star necklace should be produced! Chunkier/tackier the better right?
all these shots are great. and the outfits gorgeous and original…. love the rackk and ruin headband and all the coats!

The necklace with all of the crosses is so cool, great find! And I love the Rackk + Ruin headbands, you should get the braided one for sure!
Wow I am learning pleats at fashion college at the moment. This is really good in terms of inspiration!
Love it.
Cool, I love pleats. I use them a lot for designs, love to wear them…just love pleats in general..accordian, knife, you name it I like it!
wooooowwww, everything is so beautiful
especially the cow jacket and the rack+ruin headbands
I love your sheer top, is that vintage too?
hi Erin,
yes it is! Actually most of this post is vintage.
Not sure of your intentions but this look is very school girl-esque if that makes any sense lol, but I like it very much
The jacket…..stunning….
The headband…. totally badass
The faux fur…..Bad to the bone
I got weirdly excited to see that much of your face after months of blurs and strategic cropping.
Oooh so many different outfits. That cow jacket makes me want to moooooo. I’m still impressed that you made your own shoes an seeing the ysl cages always puts a smile on my face. I wish I had time to DIY one of those headbands. Seems so do-able. Sigh
YSL inspired shoes?
Did anyone tell you that you have geisha-like lips.?
The shoes are by YSL.
My favorite? The 2nd look with the cross necklaces and the sheer top. It’s perfect! It reminded me from one of my favorite looks from the Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 collection.

I have never coveted a rawhide jacket so -intensely- before.
I LOVE the plaid dress you made. It’s got the perfect shaped skirt. The cowhide jacket is fantastic, and I love those mirrored photos of you in your chair. Headbands usually give me headaches too (and everything else worn on the head, other than hats)
xo
that cow hide jacket reminds me of a cow hide rugs my parents had and i loved playing on as a kid. Pet it for me, will u?
also love how rakk and ruin is written on the inside
I’m now on the hunt for an undersized vest. Thanks!
Glad it is fake Astrakhan/Broadtail. I’m not necessarily anti-fur but the process for farming Broadtail is exceptionally cruel. As you proved here you can still have a high quality faux fur that looks just as great.
You have fine taste in furnishings too! Never fail to surprise. Is that a chair by Walter Gropius?
Awesome styling, Ji! Very, very fresh looks – but I like that there still is the vibe that I have learned being quintessentially you.
i’ve never written before but going on your site is great after a nasty hangover! hope to see another pair of beautiful shoes !
hahaha how so? Did it cure your hangover or make it worse? Me thinks the latter.
WOW. THIS POST IS FULL OF INSPIRATIONS.. AS ALWAYS.
I MUST SAY THAT VINTAGE FAUX BROADTAIL COAT IT’S AMAZING. AND THE CLOTHES FITS YOU SO WELL. I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS KARAKUL/PERSIAN LAMB COAT; UNFORTUNATELY THE FEW I’VE LOOKED WERE SIZES TOO BIG FOR ME.
DID YOU CUSTOM THAT NECKLACE YOURSELF? IT’S PERFECT.
ALSO THE COW-HIDE JACKET IS A TOTALLY COLLECTIBLE ITEM; I KNOW I WOULD PULL IT OFF BUT NOT THIS GOOD!
PS:
DEAR LUXI,
FOR A WHILE I’VE BEEN SEEING AND ADMIRING ALL YOUR POSTS.
I MUST SAY THAT YOU INSTIGATE “MY CREATIVE” SELF BEYOND JUST CLOTHES AND FOOD.
I WOULD NOT KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO EXPRESS AND PUT IT INTO WORDS BUT YOU REALLY “BRING OUT” THE CREATIVE QUALITIES THAT ALL OF US HAVE; AND NOT JUST THAT, ALSO THE AMBITIOUS AND THE WELL THOUGHT-OUT, ORGANIZED AND NEAT! SOMETHING I’VE BEEN TRYING TO SEEK IN A LONG TIME. EVERYONE CAN INSPIRE BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN CAPTIVATE AND INSPIRE THE WAY YOU DO. THAT IS QUITE LIMITED NOW-A-DAYS. I REPEAT, MOST PEOPLE (OR EVEN YOURSELF) MIGHT FIND THIS RARE OR EVEN WONDER “WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT? IT’S YOUR CLOTHES AND FOOD” STRANGELY I MIGHT AS WELL BE JUST “DEEP-ANALYSING” EVERYTHING I SEE, READ, AND READ.
YEAH, I MIGHT AS WELL BE JUST DEEP-ANALYSING EVERYTHING I SEE/READ HERE. (BUT THAT JUST IS THE FREUDIAN ANALYTICAL PART OF ME) STILL THAT DOES NOT CHANGE WHAT YOU HAVE INSTIGATED IN MYSELF. YOU ARE TRULY ADMIRABLE . YOU HAVE A DELICATE YET BADASS, BEAUTIFUL, RARE, INGENIOUS, AND ELABORATE EXECUTION IN EVERYTHING YOU DO THAT JUST TRANSLATE TO WHO/WHAT YOU ARE THE ESQUISITE LUXIRARE.
REQUEST:
ONE DAY I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A POST OF YOUR KITCHEN, CABINETS AND ALL AND YOUR CLOSET (MESS AND ALL) BUT I DOUBT THERE’S ANY CLUTTER.
RC.
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! As always… I am in complete love with the coat, and those shoes you made: AMAZING!
THAT HEADBAND AND JACKET ARE AMAZING. PLEASE POST MORE. I MISS MY MIX OF FASHION AND FOOD.
I love the pairing of cow jacket with shoes…reminds me of hooves!
i was listening to “love long distance” by the gossip while reading the post. this song fitted perfectly with the pictures! it was like you were dancing
Sometimes I want to put music on my website and then I’m like..NOPE! Everyone already has music playing on their computers and it would just be inconsiderate…
Can you tell me where you got those sunglasses? I love them
SO good!
loving the way you styled this look.
I love the outfit with the cross necklaces. Goth meets Clueless should be your new look!
Lets hang soon
Lovely cow girl jacket. Fits you like a dream which makes that vintage find even more exciting. Always all so inspirational.
I love the cow jacket !
Can I ask which camera do you use? I really curious because all you food posts are so high on detail. Oh, and your blog really is something special, you’re so bloody artistic!

Ji,
Just wondering what your lighting set-up is like?
Feel free to email me when you get a chance.
I just love the lighting in your shots.
Cheers,
Madeleine louise
ps. This is amazing, i love anything with pleats.
Hi Madeleine!
This may sound weird but I didn’t use any lighting for this post. I shot it during the day with whatever sunlight was available…hope this helps? It helps to set the camera on a slow shutter speed so that it lets in as much light as possible, and then if there are any further lighting details to edit its easy enough to do in Photoshop.
eep.
pps. New email! (its listed under this post, not the previous one)
beyond words. it was worth the wait.
ehhh I wish I had a better post, one where I included something I made…But thanks for your kind words smoond
love the dress!
Your styling of the dress is impeccable! & that cow hide jacket is so bitchin!
I am almost left in awe by your talent. i cant say much else other than its a huge pleasure to read your blog and i always look forward to your posts <3

Fantastic as always. The waistcoat worn as belt reminds me of yesterdays Givenchy collection with the open zip waistbands.
Fantastic as always. The waistcoat worn as belt reminds me of yesterdays Givenchy collection with the open zip waistbands..
these posts are nice to see every once in a while too when you do more “wearable” stuff. not that i don’t completely covet all your self-made awe-inspiring goods! i’m just waiting for the day i can purchase them!
i like the way you use the slow shutter speed for the pictures in motion – it has this ambient feel that i adore sooo much! xx
What’s a vintage wholesale appointment?
Every piece on this post is spot on, per usual. Especially that cow jacket, so beautiful. Where are those sunnies from?!
I presume the fake fur is astrakan !
I like those thorn head bands. so cool.
me too!
wow, i am so glad i found this site. your sense of color and texture is so mature and wayy beyond the boring stuff that jsut involves pointy shoulders and studs (rumi im looking at you) and i love the way you photograph.
ive added you to my blog roll and i hope you can do the same.
very fondly,

Love the pleats and those shoes! The black platform boots too! Wicked stuff.
Gail Sorronda (AUS) did a few all silver headbands with large spikes on them a few seasons ago. Thought of that when I saw the Rackk & Ruin one. I love the cow hide jacket and sheer top. Definitely something I would wear.
eh I’m sure a lot of people did a lot of things with the same ideas.
okay luxirare i love you too much!
Kick ass vintage faux broadtail coat! If I were a fashionable zombie I would snag it
cant say i’ll love to have spikes on my head, though it seems hedoism is quite in right now.
you shud probably do a tutorial on maintaining that fine hair of yours!
Amazing, as usual!
http://forfashionsake.blogspot.com/
amazing necklace, you make it?
Beautiful jacket !!
WOW!!!! I am so in love with that vintage cow jacket. One of my favorite color combos is camel and black. (honestly, i love to mix all neutrals!) This is a beautiful shoot. Bravo.
