Great to read on a cloudy Tuesday. Stay inspired guys!
Oh, I’ve spent 7 years in film productions and I couldn’t agree more with this! I like Pixar since their first film and I like their ways. That is why Disney run after then begging for cooperation right after that.
Create people, stop spending time on crap.
This is what I like ion you too dear. You are a creator!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this. I need to print it out and pin it on my wall!
this is inspiring! I should have this hanging on my closet.
i was just going to ask, just so happened that your latest post is very apropos to my question,
what do you consider your official title? designer? are there other things you consider yourself? like chef? illustrator? photographer? visionary? idk, im not very good at titling all the things you do :p
i guess im asking cuz i want to get into design, but i cant draw all that well, not like the kids who were born knowing how to draw,
do you think that’s a problem?
i just try to get into it, by reading blogs like yours about design, looking more at things, sounds funny, but idunno, paying more attention now to their details, how they are constructed.
most of the time, i just find myself emulating things i know i like or would want to buy, rather than really creating something entirely new, but i guess, that’s ok too right? just recreating things that have been made already? taking bits & pieces from everywhere?
i love your blog! but i think that much is already apparent
oh! and i love that you posted something from pixar from ppl who animate… its not directly your line of work, but just goes to show that the work is always the same for people everywhere in the creative business, and i feel like thats true… whether you write, or you illustrate, or you make music, or you design, or your direct… its all just one big happy package
(Sigh) Such a familiar feeling. I think every creative mind has ups and downs. It’s just important to keep at it until brilliance strikes. That’s the moment it’s all worth it This was a sweet read.
This is adorable. I love it! Thanks for sharing – Tuesdays are definitely a day where I need the inspiration.
i always hate the half way and you run of gas bumps more than just creative blocks but this was in every way appreciated. PERSIST!
Thank you for sharing the love
And also what you said in an earlier post about having little fun side projects. They help with the PERSIST, because you’re having fun doing little brain-juicy things on the side. It helps keep you feeling the flow even as you’re struggling to articulate and edit and produce and make things work and all the rest of that slog.
i actually had the insane pleasure to visit pixar a couple weeks ago because my friend works there. granted i wasn’t allowed into about 95% of the university, but damn was it inspiring just being in a space allocated for such amazing creators. it was also a bit strange because of this complicated feeling of embarassment (i.e. wanting to take pictures with everything in someone’s actual place of work)
anyway, they sell those iconic bouncy balls in their gift shop.
So true, I love those moments when just right come to me, in just the right order, but they are few. Organizing words into the perfect sequence takes a lot of effort. It’s good to know I’m not alone and my well of inspiration is not the only one that runs dry at times.
This has such a great message that really is relevant with basically everyone in their fields – on a side note, I recognized this letter from Austin Madison’s blog, who is an animator at Pixar.
I cant believe there are only 14 comments on this. I think all artists can relate to this. Very eloquently put! And, its positive…
Love this post! Thanks for sharing…
How’s things, great blog however there is a problem whereby sometimes I am sent back to the main page whenever I look at other posts within your blog.
