Paper Doll

Margiela Moto Jacket, paper cut out concept.

Margiela Jacket, Luxirare Grid Shirt, Balenciaga boots.
Happy New Years, and I hope everyone had a great x-mas. I never make resolutions because the real resolutions that happen come unexpectedly, and they don’t ever happen on NYE…like this blog for example, I never made a resolution to keep a blog for a year on a semi consistent basis…yet somehow I managed to, accidental resolutions are the best…Hopefully I can continue to do it for the year of 2010.

January 1st, 2010 at 9:10 pm
HAPPY NEW YEAR! i’m obsessed with grid paper and always use it for craft projects and even as my desktop bg (plus twitter wallpaper!) i’ve always wanted to wear the pattern and never thought about something like this! this is excellent.
January 1st, 2010 at 9:14 pm
This is amazing! Is that jacket from the new MMM or the old MMM?
January 1st, 2010 at 9:20 pm
Those boots bring about an intense amount of jealousy in me.. They’re so white and so pretty! Hahaha.
January 1st, 2010 at 9:21 pm
new MMM, thx for your comment Cruz
January 1st, 2010 at 9:25 pm
The crown is exceptional, did you make it? Could you possibly post a tutorial?
January 1st, 2010 at 9:31 pm
You look stunning, the eye makeup is wonderful. such an amazing contrast to the whiteness of the rest of the image and i love the subtle ladders in the stockings.
Brilliant as always, and i agree fully about resolutions. I’ve never believed in them nor made one!
January 1st, 2010 at 9:55 pm
wow, completely amazing and wonderful! thank you for your blog, it is inspiring!
xx

January 1st, 2010 at 10:36 pm
Hi Lux.
Happy New Year! – I have one question for you…Are you from the future?
Sent back in time to have us dressing like it’s “actually” twenty-ten.
January 1st, 2010 at 11:12 pm
happy new year! great session!
January 1st, 2010 at 11:19 pm
Maybe its the balenciaga boots that look futuristic…
January 1st, 2010 at 11:58 pm
Fantastic, as always. Happy New Year.
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:14 am
Happy New Year! Wow, it’s all so sterile looking. What I imagine the inside of a spaceship might look like. It makes me think of…..space that’s not space? Not sure how to explain it. Amazing photo quality. Normally I find it impossible to take pictures of white on white stuff.
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:17 am
i love the shirt, you make such interesting pieces of clothing!
excellent taste and perfectly photographed, as usual. beautiful.
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:43 am
The cut out dress kinda reminds me of the Dries van Noten S/S09 collection. But nonetheless, your clothes are beautiful.
January 2nd, 2010 at 1:04 am
it’s so jesusical! love it all and the fact that you used nude tights instead of black ones…a nude revolution is going to happen soon?
January 2nd, 2010 at 1:36 am
I wished Jesus was as cool as you are…
don’t you dare to ever ever ever ditch that blog! pleaaaasee.
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:21 am
Ahh this post just gave me a New Year’s resolution: to clean my laptop screen! All that white makes the dust shine, haha. Kidding aside, I appreciate the sole nylon with the runs…somehow adds a subtle element of quirkiness.
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:39 am
strings of lights can be such fun light sources in photos. i love how you used them. i also love the barely-there shredded nylons.
i hope you do continue to blog throughout 2010! you keep my internet world interesting.
January 2nd, 2010 at 3:09 am
Thank you so much for your wonderful blog — it was one of my pleasures in 2009. I love the purity of this post. You look thin Luxi, in a good way, but take care of yourself.
January 2nd, 2010 at 4:37 am
woman! you look super tall. hope you have a rad new year. you were one of the few bright shining stars of my 2009. thanks for all the insanity.
January 2nd, 2010 at 5:20 am
So true, accidental resolutions are the best and most memorable, seriously when was the last time we remembered to keep that new year’s resolution?
a new year is just a human made system of marking Time anyway, 1/1 is nothing different than 12/31…
That dress is one mystery btw, I keep thinking it’s semi translucent but then there’s that nude layer under? genius nevertheless.
January 2nd, 2010 at 5:38 am
I ONLY HOPE THIS ARE NOT THE WHITE BALENCIAGA BOOTS I WAS BIDDING ON EBAY.
FIRST ITEM THAT I DON’T LIKE YOU WEARING; LEATHER JACKET. I DO NOT SEE MARGIELA ANYWHERE IN IT. HOWEVER THAT GRID SHIRT IS AMAZING.
YOU ARE INDEED AN ANGEL IN THESE LAST PICTURES.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
RC.
January 2nd, 2010 at 5:41 am
I FORGOT TO SAY THAT IS NOT THAT YOU LOOK BAD ON THE JACKET.
you never look bad, but beyond anyone’s dreams.
IT JUST DOES NOT REFLECT MARGIELA IN ANYWAY.
IT IS 4:39AM IN THE MORNING; MAYBE TOMORROW I CAN EXPLAIN EXACTLY why…
January 2nd, 2010 at 5:45 am
Happy New Year to you too, Ji.
I haven’t made any resolutions, if there’s anything I want to do more is “carpe diem”, just living each day, and making every moment.
And yes, more Luxirare this year please!
January 2nd, 2010 at 6:20 am
Gorgeous photographs as always! Love your Balenciaga (?) boots and that MMM moto jacket! Happy New Year~
January 2nd, 2010 at 6:32 am
Ooh, your posts are just so great that I’m always compelled to comment – no matter if I have any actual input or a single sane thing to say. For me it looks that you have found some subtlety and at the same time your designs are bit more conceptual. Very, very compelling!
In this dress I love how you lined the body with nude and left the sleeves unlined – the effect is almost unnoticeable but then you take advantage of that detail in the styling letting the gloves show through. Not sure if you (or anyone) can take this as a compliment, but the whole outfit is something I would love to wear. Maybe I should get a piggy bank for Luxirare clothes saving…
Happy new year, Ji! Just continue this outstandingness – and the year will be great!
January 2nd, 2010 at 7:12 am
Keep up the good work luxirare, your a star! Keep giving us things to dream of. Happy 2010 xxx
January 2nd, 2010 at 7:32 am
The last couple pictures reminds of the scene from the movie The Others with Nicole Kidman when she finds her daughter playing by herself under a sheer blanket with a garland on top of her head. Anyway, yes…more Luxirare for 2010 please! You definitely keep my creative juices flowing. Happy New Year!
January 2nd, 2010 at 8:39 am
Woah, magnificent piece. Instantly reminds me of the laser cut grids featured in Australian TV’s recent collection… Wonderful blog, and happy new year!
January 2nd, 2010 at 9:52 am
first…. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! (again ahahhahaha)
love the outfit, everything the jacket, the dress, the boots, the nudity of the concept…….great!!!…
i dont know if you like Vampire novels, but i want to recomend you the one im reading; “Nocturna” of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan…. hope you like it, is about dark vampires….
xoxoxo
B!
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:16 am
Happy New Year! Completely agree about the resolutions. To many more years of amazing talent! Those last three pictures look very angelic/Jesus/bride!
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:47 am
thanks TPS ….hope you have a happy 2010
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:48 am
hahahhaha ey I’m far from angelic …hopefully in 2010 this year will give me a clean slate and more motivation
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:50 am
awww Kamicha, thanks for your comment. Yes this design is more subtle and actually I think the LESS obvious the designs are, the more powerful they can be. I think “complicated” designing doesn’t make it good, a subtle complexity now that is something DIFFICULT to achieve..
I’m flattered you’d wear everything…hopefully I can continue to do more posts like these! Happy new year!!!!
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:51 am
Thebootsthebootsthebootsthebootstheboots! Gorgeous!
I’m bad at making New Year’s resolutions too. I hope you manage to keep blogging for 2010. Not only are your fashion posts directional and inspiring, I think you’re in a league of your own as far as blogging is concerned. Many thanks for all your posts in 2009. I’ve loved them!
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:57 am
Definitely not in my own league….I just happen to have a blog about fashion and food thats all but Thanks so much anyway….I hope I can continue to do this more consistently and finally open my e-commerce.
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:13 pm
Happy New Year! You’re such a talented person, wish you success in 2010. I love those grid pieces!
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:19 pm
Happy new year to you too! Hahah a little late now…its Jan 2..can it be NYE everyday???
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:19 pm
Did not get these on e-bay hahah…Sorry you feel that way about the Margiela Jacket!
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:20 pm
I won’t ditch the blog don’t worry!!!! hahah and I’m far from being anything near the “perfect” jesus character you guys keep mentioning
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Thanks adele!
January 2nd, 2010 at 12:45 pm
I love the paper cut-out concept of the MMM jacket.
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:01 pm
thank you for your blog- truly unique in every way. appreciated and admired by many (including myself).
white on white on white perfection….love it, love it.
happy 2010!
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:44 pm
Incredible shirt!! Someday I would love to see more of the behind the scenes of making your incredible clothes, in case you’re looking for something else to do!
January 2nd, 2010 at 3:49 pm
I am considering it.
January 2nd, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Hi Luxirare
I love your blog..but i have a question: Do you blur/hide your face for artistic-reasons? ore privacy and safety-reasons?
January 2nd, 2010 at 8:44 pm
Happy New year!! Wow cant believe your blog has been a year already!! Hope you keep it up, theres some really cool images and food!!!!
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:27 pm
Hey Luxi,

Wishing u a swell 2010!! xx
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:31 pm
hey Sheffie,
Try YOOX.COM, they always have great margiela, or ALOHARAG.com, also good for margiela merchandise. Don’t forget Ebay…I am forgetting the other e-commerce sites that sell margiela..will add them if they come back to my memory..
Happy new years to you too !!!
January 3rd, 2010 at 12:24 am
dearest luxirare,
i really like the fact that it’s all about your craft, and not about your face. lately i’ve gotten so tired of faces and who’s popular, i’ve forgotten about the things they are talking about. but whenever i come here it’s like being in a warm familiar house and I can focus on what matters: design. thank you, thank you, thank youuuu
love, mae
January 3rd, 2010 at 3:14 am
That looked like the most fun shoot to do. I can just imagine you looking at the christmass tree and deciding to put the lights on your head. Kinda looks like a bird’s nest. Here little birds, come and take some pictures with me, haha.
January 3rd, 2010 at 4:47 am
a very happy new year to you!!
I love when we almost accidentally see your face, i really love the make up on you eyes.
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:38 am
Ive been visiting your website for a while but this is my first time commenting. I love what you do here, you are so inspiring. You are so grounded and seem so nice. Love the dress, jacket and boots. I would be scared to wear them, 1 because they are so freakin beautiful and 2 because they are soooo white.
January 3rd, 2010 at 1:31 pm
“… I would love to see more of the behind the scenes …”
I agree with Elle.
Not necessarily tutorials but just peeks into your process for photographing or sewing.
I can imagine this being as beautiful and inspiring as your food stories.
Happy New Year.
(Wonderful, wonderful blog and content!)
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:53 pm
gorgeous. loving that dress!
random thought, but I think it’s great you stay anonymous. it makes you that much more unreal in an amazing way
January 4th, 2010 at 5:36 am
Hi Lux, Great post as always.
I love the shape of the Luxirare top. Did you buy the fabric with grids on it already or did you add pipping by hand? Thanks for the inspiration. Hope 2010 is an even better year for you and Luxirare!
January 4th, 2010 at 7:20 am
I love these outfits but i keep getting frustrated because my initial instinct is to touch the fabric and i can’t. I don’t usually get this urge to touch fabric when looking at outfit posts…must be the high resolutions pics.
January 4th, 2010 at 8:44 am
Hey Elle,
Nope didn’t add the piping myself, its come already gridded and actually this design was completely inspired by the fabric itself. The best way to get inspired in my opinion.
January 4th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
wow. i really admire your taste in boots. If I could- I’d buy many cool designer items. sadly, I only have enough money to choose one or two things a year….my money ALWAYS goes towards a spectacular pair of boots.
lovely. these white guys and the mirror boots just blow my mind.
you’d be happy to know you inspired me to buy costume shop patent stripper platforms! I love them.
January 4th, 2010 at 4:52 pm
Oh my WORD, lux! Those Balenciaga boots in WHITE?! dying. I would ruin them as soon as I set foot outside, however. Or sooner. And I’ll just pretend that’s the reason I don’t own them
January 4th, 2010 at 5:49 pm
LOVE your blog!!! Keep being inspired, the result is pure inspiration.
Your passion and craft-love transcend the usual, and take blogging to another level!
Can’t wait to see what 2010 brings you!
January 4th, 2010 at 8:05 pm
Your halo of twinkle lights are an inspiration.

January 5th, 2010 at 10:12 am
Thanks Gail…I hope I can stay inspired. Sometimes I get very fatigued, jaded by it all….Sometimes you know…you just want to sleep and watch tv…haha…do nothing with friends…but its really all the readers that come here that keep me inspired..
January 5th, 2010 at 10:13 am
They are really comfortable aren’t they? They are made for real strippers so I think that is why they are so comfortable, and high!
January 5th, 2010 at 10:15 am
It does doesn’t it…maybe I should have added some chirpers.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:27 pm
happy new year! excited to see what else you got in store for us this yr! i can wear this gridded top/dress and day! and that last shot is just superb! the light, the contrast, that crazy veil!
January 6th, 2010 at 12:46 am
I’m excited too! I have a surprise for you all coming up very soon.
January 6th, 2010 at 2:21 am
Have you ever been asked to be shot by the Sartorialist (or any streetstyle blogger)? If not, would you let him shoot you and uncover your identity?
Happy 2010!
January 6th, 2010 at 6:12 pm
This outfit is ADORABLE.
It reminds me of an edgy/moody Sailor Moon.
January 6th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
I am coveting that shirt! Beautiful simplicity. And I’ll take the boots and gloves, too.
We were in NYC over new year’s weekend, and it was really fun to see all the amazing boots women were wearing. I think because of the cold weather there, women make more of an effort to find footwear that is both warm and fashionable. Out here on the West coast, I see far fewer boots. Far fewer interesting boots, I should say.
January 9th, 2010 at 9:47 am
happy new year
so white so pure i love it

January 12th, 2010 at 9:39 am
Yes, that would make sense. I would die to move to the west coast though! Especially los angeles or Venice beach..
January 15th, 2010 at 6:57 am
Wow really amazing inspirational images, i love that there is blurryness because images are so sharp and precise these days, it looses the mystery

Hello there! I am new to Luxirare and am just as blown away by your work as everyone else here seems to be. Where/how did you learn to design and make clothes?? Do you have a biography anywhere?? I am super curious!

So inspirational! This gives me an idea for a fabric I have that has confounded me for years. It is similar to this with sheer windowpane checks, but it’s beige and the checks are much larger. This opens my mind to thinking of the fabric as trim instead of yardage. Seems obvious now. But sometimes that push out of the envelope is needed. And definitely a square garment shape and minimal seams, as this has, will be necessary.
Did you even make the chandelier holiday tree ornament?!? Regardless, that’s a great idea.
