Morning Routine
Best facial products and perfumes in my opinion. I’ve had my fair share of agony when it comes to mediocre facial products. Philosophy face washes are my favorite, better than Cetaphil
Crack for your face. Not kidding. This stuff is rough on your face but if you use it 1-2 a week it does a good job of exfoliating. I mean look at it, there’s not a drop of cleanser solution, just the grains. Yes, crack for your face. Your skin is as soft as a baby’s butt after.

This exfoliating face wash is LESS harsh than “crack for your face” bobbi brown micro-scrubbers. You can use it 3-4 times a week. Philosophy makes the best face washes and the scents are non-cheesy.

Lotions. This is the best stuff, I can only get it on Amazon.com, can’t find it anywhere around here. Its japanese so its hard to find in say, Duane Reade. I don’t judge the quality of products by the price, this japanese lotion below is only 10-12 $ but so good. I’ve experienced a 50 dollar face cream that doesn’t do any work. The smaller one is the cream, which is thicker, better for winter. The lotion is a very liquidy, non-oily formula. Its called “face milk”. Kind of creepy no? Creepy is good.
Two fave perfumes. Kenzo and Cannabis Rose. I’ve had Cannabis rose for 1 year now and its still full. Guess why? Cause I’m trying to “Save it” like my virginity on prom night.
AND no cannabis rose doesn’t smell like marijuana. I promise. I use the kenzo a lot more because its more of an everyday scent for me. The Cannabis rose is more for “special” occasions.

I absolutely love Philosophy products. I just hate their ridiculous price tag. Sad face.
how about make-up? curious to know what you regularly use
Hi, yes sure thing! I don’t use too much makeup so this will be easy enough.
I use Flower by Kenzo too. (:
^Oh, Connie, you’re so right! Great products (love those microdelivery mini peel pads), but the price is so absurd!
Yes I know, they are quite pricey. But not in comparison to some of the MORE expensive brands. I think the pricing is moderate for what it is. There are many more facial products that charge exorbitant prices and are much worse than philosophy. I think its a fair price for what you’re getting, the quality of it is great and they give you a good amount, enough to last you.
am very intrigued with the bobbi brown sand looking scrub.
great photography. I love your site.
i wonder, when are you gonna show your face. You’re such a mystery.
I Am Denise Katipunera
Thank you for your blog. It is SO lovely. I know that I’ve sniffed that Kenzo scent a million times in the past, but I can’t recall exactly what it smells like- a trip to sephora is in order… (i’m perfume obsessed and now have a strong desire to do a perfume post on my blog…)
Do you mix the Bobbi Brown crack stuff with cleanser? Just water? I want to try
So far I’ve been using Skinfood Black Sugar Mask to make my face baby-butt soft. It smells delicious and because the sugar particles melt as you massage, there’s no danger of over-exfoliating. I highly recommend it if you’re ever looking for something new hehe.
& I second the daily/ favorite makeup items post!
Yes, with water. Just a little though.
I have been meaning to try the Philosophy products you posted for quite some time now, this has given me the nudge to get them as soon as my Dermalogica runs out. The Japanese stuff looks great, may I ask what is so good about them? Am off to Japan in December, hopefully I find it there
xx
PS. What does Cannabis Rose smell like?
YES! In my opinion the price of the philosophy products are not bad, compared to some & they work wonders- (concentrated too). I will no longer wash my face with anything other than the Purity. The micro. scrub is great, however I just started using the MAC volcanic ash scrub–it’s completely black which is amazing and it does the damn thing. I LOVE the smell of the Fresh Cannabis Santal-I can only imagine the Rose is delicious too.
Fresh makes the best scents. So fresh. I’m oddly attracted to more feminine scents than my style would reflect.
I’ve been using Redcurrant Basil by Fresh for over 3 years. And I haven’t gone through the bottle yet. Not because I don’t love it, but because I want to save it hahaha. However, I plow through my ridiculously priced Bond No. 9 Chelsea Flowers like ebay sellers at H&M during designer collab launches.
the bobbi brown salt scrub thing is kinda ridiculously expensive so as an alternative, my family uses fine-grain sea salt which works jussssssst as well
Stellar products!! What do you think about the Chanel line?
Hahaha you make me laugh when you say that you’re saving your perfume like your virginity on prom night. Excellent.
I do the same, except I bought 2 of my favourite perfume as they stopped manufacturing it. So now I just have 2 bottles that I’ll be sitting on until I’m 60+.
I’ve been meaning to try out Philosophy products, this is a good push towards that.
Also, you sound like me with your perfume
I was surprised to hear you like such conventional products
Have you ever tried cleansing oil? I have dry skin and it doesn’t like foaming cleansers with soap, so I’ve been using cleansing oil from Lumene.
Do you use anything with SPF in it? I am interested to try to the Japanese cream. Link?
Hi Alicia,
there is a link, just hover the image with the Japanese lotion, there is a triangle that will show up.
It links you to amazon.
hm, i wonder if the japanese stuff is sold around st. marks
i must try the philosophy facial products! i mean, why not- i’ve used their fragrances and body products (which i love)….must add those to my next US shopping trip list!
nice to see the tips on your fave products here- better than reading amazon.com’s customer reviews…your blog is more fun.
I’ve actually used Philosophy before, but it broke me out (like most things). But that Bobby Brown Exfoliating Scrub looks great. I think I’ll try it out!
I recommend you try Aesop! I am a HUGE fan of their products.

All of these face washes are not necessary. The minute I stopped using face washes and simply RINSED my face with warm water every day, and stopped TOUCHING my face, all of my blemishes subsided.
All it takes.
I’m thinking that’s your personal experience. Your method may work for some but not everyone.
I love peeping beauty routines. After testing out pricey creams, potions and lotions, I’ve concluded that the best moisturizer, at least for me, is Aveeno. Love the silky effect it has on my skin. Plus you CAN find these at Duane Reade. I got the Bobby Brown Exfoliating Scrub from a friend and I’m kind of obsessed. Although I do routinely switch it up with at home glycolic scrubs now and again.
i just started using the philosophy stuff recently and it IS very great. my only complaint is that the hope in a jar moisturizer smells of dead baby fetuses. ok maybe not. but it’s got quite the strange smell. besides that it absorbs in like 2 seconds. everything else does smell very neutral and works wonderfully well.
i agree with luxirare about the price. it’s not the cheapest stuff but it’s also affordable. if you want to get a packaged deal, there’s one going on at sephora right now. you can get all the washes+peels+moisturizer+eye cream for half the price.
creepy IS good.
do me a favor- just once! I know this sounds crazy- but when using your normal face wash- add some baking soda (like arm & hammer) and exfoliate- It sounds weird- but it is better than any other exfoliating face crack i have ever tried! I put it in a plastic Parmesan shaker from restaurant supply and it lives in my shower next to the face wash. Such a lovely feeling!
i use cannabis rose everyday and i’ve never gotten so many compliments.. it’s kind of insane.
we have a restaurant in LA and we usually got our restaurant supplies from a quality retailer .~;
After going through La Mer, Keihl’s, Philosophy, and god only knows how many other facial lotions, I finally gave up and tried Sana. SO GOOD. You’re right about the milk being a tad creepy, but I’m super glad I took your advice!
