Long Lace Dress
I don’t know if you guys noticed but I’ve been out selecting some vintage clothes, shoes and accessories..I am not as obsessed with thrifting or nearly as effective as some girls are but there are some decent things out there if you’re willing to look! I have to say that vintage shopping in California is probably a lot more fruitful than it is around the east coast (have no idea why). Its slim pickings out here.
Vintage lace up boots.

I love the lace up details and the shape of the shoe. At first glance I thought they were cowboy boots. They look totally out of place in the world of sky high platforms/studded pumps/strappy cagey sandals..

Vintage Corset with Garters and 20′s style Lace Dress.

Not sure how many of you have already visited but there is an entirely different section of my blog apart from the main content. There are more posts in the “imagefeed” section of my blog, the content is much more casual and frequent.

Ah, this reminds me of a time when I tried pairing a sheer black lace bodysuit under a sheer black lace dress. I only hope that someday there will be a time & place for that ensemble…
WOW So Stunning!!! Love the lace!
more perfect objects! Yet again I get to live vicariously through you! I love finding simple things that have a single, subtle, unique feature that can a simple idea like a pair of plain brown leather boots, into something kinda fascinating to look at and appreciate, i love the shape of them….sorry to gush about something that’s so not as flashy as your other treasures, but i just love things that have that whisper of irregularity. I never have the energy to hold out for the goods and only fill my life specifically with those kinds of things, i just rush it and make do with crap. oh well…… : -[
There are definitely amazing things out there. I wouldn’t like to be labelled as a “thrift store shopper” but I really don’t mind buying from those stores because sometimes they carry really neat stuff. You’ve been very lucky to pass by these babies…..
You’re such a genoius!
Amazing…love lace!
xx
I love your lace dress! Boots seem like totally different story but it works together just amazingly! I always admire your gut to wear something like that. I guess I just have yo toughen myself up.
SO dainty!
AMAZING….and corset rocks!! love the pics
What are those shoes in the last photograph? They look amazing!
They are actually stripper sandals with a huge space cut out in between. I bought it in a store.. so I can’t link ya…but the brand is “luscious” if that helps!
Those flat boots are just beautiful, and when paired with the lace dress the effect is pure magic! I bow down to your creative genius.
I love the long lace dress! That seems like a great vintage find =) xo
I have the same non luck with treasure hunting. Usually, It’s because my body is either longer or wider (shoulders) than women were back in those days. The boots are an awesome find! Congrats!
As much as I love thrifting, it’s often a fruitless endeavor where I come from. There are only two kinds of stores here: old lady stores and hip college stores. The hip colleges stores never have clothes in my size and are way overpriced ($20 for a day dress that some unknown person has worn only God-knows-where? I don’t think so.) The old lady stores usually have old lady clothes, and not the redeemable kind. Occasionally, you’ll find something that’s really a treasure, but it’s so occasional that the continuous search usually isn’t worth it. Don’t even get me started on Goodwill.
There is one tiny little thrift store in my hometown, however, that somehow rises above the rest. I have never gone there without buying something with which I was completely satisfied. All gently used, well-priced, and many name brands. Plus tons of odd and quirky costume jewelry. I don’t even know the name of the place, I just know that every time I go home I have to pay them a visit.
In other news, that dress makes me wish I had never abandoned gothiness.
Amazing as always. Love love love that bustier/corset piece over the lace. Double whammy.
It’s true about finding suitable used clothing there–when I was in NYC, I found it nearly impossible to just “happen upon” truly great pieces. That said, there used to be an excellent flea market not far from the Rubin Museum. Deadstock cashmere, old Soviet kitsch, and a few decent shoe dealers. I wonder if it’s still there?
Those boots with the cowhide coat would make a cute foray into the world of brown. The corset is definitely helping in the boob dept.
you always have the most amazing shoes!
Those boots are amazing and per usual, your photos are simple but straight out of a dream..
I LOVE how you wore the corset on TOP of the dress! It adds a fresh dimension to the overall look.
The metal on the toes of those boots really adds to them even though it’s such a small detail, very nice.
Yes I love that detail too! The shoes are kinda ugly though..no?
cannot wait for the store.
i love the chains. what kind of metal are they?
AHHH SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
I’m not sure why you think you’re not as effective at thrifting as other girls, as these finds are truly spectacular!

Cause I’m a novice at it. I’m not really too interested with “vintage” clothes but lately I have started to have a change of heart. I know there are girls who are much more skillful at finding gems while thrifting, I just don’t have the patience or luck.
You have a great eye… the lace on lace combination is super cool!
Thanks Lindja!
Those shoes are amazing! Definitely not ugly! Wish I had the patience when thrift shopping to look through everything and find good pieces.
Hi Luxi!
Love the post… The corset is gorgeous! Your waist is so small it must be like 20 inches!
Thanks E actually the corset is so tight and I am sucking my stomach in..
I very much enjoy vintage and thrift store shopping, but I’m fairly particular. Those tan vintage boots look made for you. They’re definitely unique. I’d wear them with just about anything in my closet.
The lace ensemble is breath-taking!
in fact you are Sally, definitely something about Mr jack here or at least bout Tim Burton. Love, as always!
It’s news to me that California has good vintage, I only know a couple of places and they are not cheap…seems like when I was a teenager I found beautiful and well priced silk bed jackets and blouses, jackets and I still have some of my finds. But I’m dying to find some good places (although too lazy to just drive around until I hit something). Can you tell me some of your LA favs??? Thanks so much!
Woah~ Lovely boots! The shape is spectacular! I almost missed the small sliver of silver in the front.
I know i love the shape of the boots.
this is the most inspiring style blog ever. the lace is gorgeous, and the 2nd pair of shoes are mind-blowing. great job!

you are the best blogger out there! sooooo original! we all love you!
hahah thanks there are a lot of people who DESPISE me though.
*wolf whistles
“Yooow!” is all I have to say.
its like listening to outkast for the first time – really. sometime it is so fun and magical and im baked and im thinking creatively and then remember to look at luxirare and it encourages me to set cell reminders for ideas to make or shop supplies, etc.
I’ve always found vintage in NYC (and most of the east coast for that matter) to be very dissapointing. And beyond overpriced. This is particularly true of NYC. Being a fashion capitol and the largest American city you’d think it’d be the promised land! But alas it isn’t.
California is a vintage mecca because there’s plenty of rag houses there. Additionally, there’s rag houses along the US/Mexican border which Californian ‘pickers’ pillage like crazy. And tons upon tons of used clothing resellers in northern Mexico. Lastly, dealers from all over the US flock to sell their goods at the Rosebowl.
I don’t think California holds a candle to Portland, OR though! The best vintage I’ve ever seen/sold/bought has come from there. But it’s gotten very pricey over the years.
I think you have a great eye for fashion period. I love this dress. And the vintage bustier is to die for. This is the stuff Frederrick’s of Hollywood knocks off now.
Oh thanks so much for your comment. In NYC there is WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND and RESSURRECTION but I don’t go there because the vintage is the same price or HIGHER than
new designer goods. There are also a lot of consignment shops in the upper east side as well as nolita but again, so damn overpriced. You’re so right about NY vintage sucking. Yea there are “vintage” shops but they are for celebrities or socialites, not for everyday. I have heard that vintage in california is insane and that you can find so many amazing things for decent prices, but I have never heard of Portland being amazing. Makes me want to go there!
best outfit ever. i need those shoes in my life. i can’t look anymore.
i absolutely love the design of the military/cowboy boots and the metal piece detail!! and also the dark sweetheart bodice. you’ve got an impeccable taste.
I actually love the brown color flat boots. I hardly wear heels anymore unless the occasion calls for it. I am so sick of the extremely stripper looking high heels in my opinion. Overall, I LOVE the whole look!
OMG girl, you look amazing!!!
the whole outfit is amazing!!! i have a thing for lace worn in modern ways.
And the vintage boots are really something, great find!
I always drop by your imagefeed, I love it!
Stunning pieces!
…xXx
I so envy those who have great vintage shops around their cities. I’m in Boston and though we do have a What Goes Around Comes Around (maybe even two) and some random vintage shops up in Somerville/Cambridge (plus the Salvation Army), I haven’t been all that successful. I’d say those boots are a mega-find.
Actually, I live near Providence , RI, and I think the thrifting is incredible. Salvation Army, Savers, and some consignment stores. Dedication to going constantly is the key.
Hi, i don’t know how else to get on contact you, although I this should suffice.
I believe someone has taken credit for your work, and I just wanted to bring it to your attention: http://www.instructables.com/community/Pie-Pops/
you’re photos are always so, so amazing. amazing thrift finds, you’re much better at it than me! if you get a chance, check out my blog at http://www.dazedyoungmess.blogspot.com Thank you
i’m sorry to say that i was a little dissapointed with this clothes post, i suppose it’s only because of how high you have set the bar with some of your earlier ones which are incredible in the creativity and execution. i think personally i thought there wasn’t enough there to keep me interested and i thought it would have been more successful in the imagefeed section. sorry, i’m not just trying to be mean, i still think the things you do are amazing, loved the apple post also!
Your designs are absolutely genius!

Portland is good for vintage…. but given the number of hipsters and yuppies that have flocked there in the last 10 years its not as good as it used to be. I’ve always found the best vintage in Pennsylvania and Ohio, at thriftshops and church sales. Ohio has amazing antique malls with the best finds.
Very Sleepy Hollow (which means I love it).
those boots have such a beautiful shape, as if carved out of wood
I love lace dress, it’s soft and windbreak,
Your item must be fitted well in sea or somewhere with wind.
I also order a similar item from http://www.elegente.com
It’s amazing.
