Italian style brunch

Bend it like beckham was on this morning….

Some fresh mozzarella on an english muffin with prosciutto, pesto, and arugula.

Bake at 450 for 10-20 minutes.

This was delicious, make sure to toast the muffin before baking it in the oven so that the pesto and cheese doesn’t make the bread soggy.

Serve with freshly siphoned coffee.

that looks so amazing. i’m in love with your coffee thing.
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT AWESOME ESPRESSO MAKER?! What’s it called?
@layla, it is actually just a regular coffee maker, it is called “siphon” and the brand I am using is Hario.
I’m not sure if this was intentional or not, but the picture of pouring the coffee with the drip coming off the bottom of the pot is beyond amazing. To see the way to liquid pooled itself into tiny little balls is really neat.
… oui. more on the cafĂ©, s’il vous plait.
amazing post! i’m salivating as we speak! absolutely beautiful
and i know this is such a random comment, but i absolutely love the silverware you used for this
Mhh.. the muffin looks yummy!
I bought a similar coffee maker (by bodum) years ago, only because the technique fascinates me. But since I’m only a tea drinker, I have to invite guests to see it in action *lol*
unbelievable, from beginning to end.
your posts never cease to amaze me.
wow!!! i would like that in Italy the brunch was in this way!!! ahahha

well the food and the coffee are easy, but the way you have styled it, pure perfection. i don’t know anything about coffee, i just buy coffee at the local supermarket. but i understand that making coffee is like art. fabulous machine, i have seen it before when i went to dinner one day. pure magic. the way you present your sandwich (i am sorry I cannot find another cult name). perfection again. never seen such a plate and cutlery before!!! I am a huge fan and i am sitting here with my mouth right open
Very luxe very chic. I love how crisp your photos are.
you featured this siphon coffee maker before & i recognized it when i saw one in a cafe while vacationing in manila! so, i asked specifically to have my coffee made with it! it was soooo cool to watch the whole process & how quickly the water gets siphoned up & then pools back down. fascinating! plus it was probably the smoothest cup of coffee i can remember having! thanks again for the constant inspiration!
plus your disposable coffee cup with your logo??? you are beyond brilliant!
great post and all but i have to say…disposable coffee cups at home? wasteful. i have never commented before and frankly thought all the anti-fur/exotic skins comments were ridiculous but this is a different story. using the entire animal is great but wasting paper products at home? not so smart.
I love how the mozzarella I’d all gooey!
if I could start off the day with that meal.. I’d turn into a morning person.
:-9
A visual feast, as always. Please, pretty please, tell us about your paint tube salt/pepper shakers.
@maura, I got those in Paris in the Marais District at a home/kitchen goods store. If I knew where to get them online I’d supply a link but I don’t know.
looks lovely, and bend it like beckham is adorable!
I’m sure you’ve gotten this question a thousand times, but what camera do you use? I’m in the market for a new DSLR.
BTW, I love and appreciate the effort you put into every post! Always exquisite.
your savory brunch is making me salivate
i was watching BLB on ifc last night as well, ha
oh man….what i’d do for that breakfast right about now….i’ve been in beijing for one week and am craving all sorts of western food i can’t seem to find here……oh yum yum yum yum!
hope ur doing well!

do you wash and re-use the paper cups that have the luxirare symbol on them?
Beautiful Pictures. Those salt & pepper shakers, I adore them! x
Any brand of pesto or english muffin you may recommend? and are you a whole foods shopper by chance? Obsessed with the picture of the coffee drip as well!
Amazing site with so many cool items. your site was recommended by wastedwardrobe.net. I am going to be looking at your website often.
Keep showing us more!
Um yeah, beautiful post but, disposable cups at home? Really, really, really not cool.
Haha love the Bend it like Beckham in the background !!
*Love* the siphon coffee maker and the falling coffee drops. What model Nikon and lens do you use?
i LOVE your blog, but i can’t help but wonder: do you alway eat in this much luxury, or is it only when you’re planning on taking your always flawless pictures of it? i am far from a morning person, but if you are mentally alert enough in the morning to create these impromptu masterpieces of morning meals, then consider this my never ending respect.
That is one amazing looking espresso maker, as well as a kick-ass brunch! Great post.
i agree with the others who commented on the paper cups– i love your creativity and ability to defy all rules and logic. but using disposables (at home nonetheless) sends a wrong message that being wasteful and not caring for our environment and luxurious. please stop! i love your blog, but this makes me sad.
Wow, this looks like a perfect brunch. Might try that soon. I’ love your coffee maker, I use an old italian one too, but it’s metal, I had it for years, and i put it on the stove. Does tea light candle really work?
Sorry I didn’t realize, it’s not a candle. Is it that think you put alcohol or a special gel in ?
Love that little drippy bead you caught in the second to last photo. I’ve been so obsessed with your salt and pepper shakers since your other post.
Hi,
I’m absolutely in love with your website, really great.
I have placed a post on my blog about your website.
Pleas go and see on http://suzanneslee.blogspot.com/
Lots of Love

damn. you are livin the DREAM!
Really? Commenting on the paper cup? Are you people nuts or what? This post has absolutely nothing to do with the environment, paper cups, plastic bags, recycling or being green. It has everything to do with imagination, creativity and food! Amazing photography, delectable eats and unique staging – I love all of it (including the use of the recyclable paper cup with the eye catching utensils)!
Looking at your photography is like sex. Beautiful and orgasmic.
for what it’s worth – i was just able to find (and snatch up) some paint tube salt & pepper shakers on ebay for less than $10. another set had ended a few weeks ago. seems they pop up on there from time to time.
i am a huge, huge fan of your blog – absolutely stunning. thanks for the great posts.
You are a true artist!!!
Such amazing details can be found in your pictures and how such a “simple thing” as a brunch can become a piece of art in your hands.
love it!
hi there! i am in desperate need to chic-ify my kitchen- where in the world do you get such mod utensils and dishes. SOK! (save our..kitchen?)
Every detail is perfection.

Hi,
I should try using it like this..
http://www.nordicnibbler.com/2011/09/another-visit-to-maaemo-oslo-restaurant.html
I received a coffee siphon almost exactly the same. What sort of fuel are you using with the wick? My instructions say alcohol fuel and I have been googling this but getting nowhere. What do you suggest I use?
