These Haider Ackermann suede zip pants = something I didn’t know I was looking for, but now I realize its exactly the thing I always wanted. They feel like sweatpants, or really comfortable leggings, but they fit and look like skinny jeans. They also zip up and down, I like to have them unzip to the knee, they start to look more like flares… The fit is incredible, they are stretchy, and there is no center front closure..Just an elastic in the back so that you can squeeze into them. You slip them on like leggings, but they aren’t leggings! I like that I can wear these to bed but also wake up in them and walk out the door.

I needed something to wear with the item in the box above…. something I could slip on easily everyday without thinking too much.. I thought of Claire McCardell’s swimsuit designs to get some draping ideas…

De Couture bag, a new addition, an everyday staple at this point. Kind of flashy but also the type of bag I throw on to run errands. Its very comfortable because the straps are wide. This small bag can actually fit a lot but I like to put a few things in it…

Oh Ji… well worth the wait.
Amazing, i love your material choice for the top and it is perfectly paired with the V&R jacket.

ps. are you wearing stockings over your boots?

    Cheers.

  2. julia

Obsessed as always and that bag is beyond adorable. Does it carry your g10 well? <3

  3. Sputnik Sweetheart

the Luxirare transparent backless shirt is genius, and I’m definitely in love with your Viktor & Rolf jacket.

  4. Crystal

The first word that popped into my head when I saw this was ‘intriguing’. I don’t know why, but all the layers of black seem so intricate and simple at the same time. Really love the bag. It adds a whole other layer to the outfit. I don’t think I’ve ever found an outfit to be so thought-provoking before! Thanks for that!

  5. harriet

2000 dollar leggings? Im really disgusted, kind of. How is that… how? What? Huh? Even if you are dirty filthy rich…. I feel weird inside :/

  6. harriet

Oh my god :( the neckpiece is just as much. Two thousand dollars. My head is spinning. I guess you really aren’t “just like me”.

    Dreams kinda killed.

  7. Curious-minded.

Do you wear this sort of clothes out? Or just for blogging purposes. I’m intrigued at how people might react if they saw someone wearing $2000 leggings down the street.

  8. the jilted age

that whole ensemble looks pretty comfortable
draped layers swaying and swirling in the wind
    so romantic
but the price tag is far too fanciful for me

  9. Melissa

I love your boots/platforms/stilts/height transplanting foot wear (pray tell, where is it from?)! Your backless creation is total genius too. I’ve become a big fan of sheer and ruffles after reading a year of reading your blog. *heart*

  10. XX

love the tights over those fucking amazing boots…is that what i see? either way, keep doin what you do, you to it well. xoxo

  11. Brigadeiro

LOVE LOVE LOVE it all! Your brilliant drapey design, the V&R jacket, the bag, Haider Ackermann…amazing!
    xx

  12. Nia

Ah, yes. The passive aggressive questions/comments regarding money. Just the right amount of gauche to make me despise internet commentary culture.*

Love the leggings, the zippers are very clever and the fact that you can wear them as flares makes it look even better. The draping pulls everything together nicely.

*you know i try to play nice, gg but sometimes i can’t help myself ;)

  13. Katherine

Wonderful, you really truly wear what you please, and if it is not available you make it yourself. Excellent drawing and creation, I am inspired and appreciate your attention to detail and quality. On top of the tangible aspects you play with meaning.. So much to consider.

To other future commenters; I suggest reading Luxirare’s Manifesto and maybe some Emily Post to brush up on tact.. This isn’t your run of the mill fashion blog we’re on special ground here! Treat it with respect dammit!

  14. Hawa

i simply love transparecy on anything and everything!

  15. susie_bubble

The zippered pants of my dreams! It’s a case of zip and go….

  16. Paula

I love luisaviaroma.com! They have great photos to see all details…esp. of the Rick Owens jackets I’ve been sweating…
I love your draped creation, especially the backless part with a hood. Very gothic-glamazon and also super comfy! A NY staple outfit.
Thanks for being so inspiring. I’m just learning to sew so seeing your creations is making me want to stop watching Tudors reruns and hit my sewing machine!

  17. girl in mint

Love the hover triangles, they are genious!

  18. girl in mint

    genius i mean, bad spelling!

  19. Cat

im just wondering, do u dress like that while running errands or dress up for a event? im just curious!

  20. Alex

My aesthetic envies your aesthetic! I love the layers and different textures. Am also having sartorial lust issues over the bag! Another stunning outfit. Kinda also reminds me of Daphne Guiness’s style? (That’s a compliment in my world BTW.) Hats off to Luxirare yet again.

  21. james

would you ever create a custom luxirare haute couture-like garment for a potential client?

  22. luxirare

    surely!!

  23. luxirare

I love these shoes too, but sometimes they can kind of gobble up a whole outfit! I covered them with stockings to give it a more muted look.

  24. luxirare

Actually it fits my g10 perfectly.

  25. luxirare

    Yes I am!!

  26. luxirare

Depends on my mood for the day really.

  27. Jaime

Fabulous- amazing shoot and love the criss cross in front.

  28. anijnas

that’s um, out there… u’re a genius though, look, u’re getting haute couture offers!

  29. archipelago

haider ackermann has been my favourite designer for a year or so, there is always something which fits together so incredibly well. Some compositions are absolutely breath-taking

    two favourites:

  30. Maggie

The top and the jacket are very very sexy.

  31. Au Courant

Very ‘monastic-chic’ – I like much! Is the purse a Luxirare design, also?

  32. Caroline

Claire McCardell…not a name you hear too often. American sportswear used to be so good. Helped that women designed for women’s bodies. I would love to see you take on more sportswear, make it modern.

  33. ladivasosa

I love how you used McCardell as an inspiration! It suits it perfectly! I love the blend of sheer and whisper thin, breathtaking girl!! I am in LOVE with your latest creation!! Love the backless detail!!

Oh yeah, let the Haider HATERs be HATERS. Fuckin love your pants/leggings/orgasm for legs!

  34. Pan

    Great post!

Some thoughts: I would prefer the top with the sleeves fitted and without the hood…I think it’d be an awesome little cocktail dress… Also, did you try it with a jacket that has another texture? maybe fur…

  35. Style Odyssey

as always, you’ve created a VERY dramatic silhouette- unforgettable. and as always, i love it. SO cool.

  36. luxirare

No the bag is by “De Couture” from Luisaviaroma.com

  37. Joey

I love the silhouette that you have created. The draping is amazing and the V&R jacket really pulls everything together so well. I can’t believe you bought that 4 years ago and it is still amazing and still works so perfectly. I’m new to your blog but I’ve already read all the archived posts and I am so unbelievably inspired. I was wondering what lens you used to shoot with your d90? (Your favourite lens/most used lens?) You are mind-blowing.

  38. anastassia

the pants are great. I might pick up a pair as well. Loving the hooded shirt and the styling in general.

  39. Petite Cecile

You look like a heroin from the future, very dark Sci-Fi.

    Love it!

    Kisses :)

(I knew you that you would choose something from Haider Ackermann)

  40. zana

Jesus. I mean, Haider Ackermann. He truly captures what my ideal “future uniform” would be. I would love to live in all of his clothing, and find him completely underrepresented in this fashion world!

Also, hope you didn’t slip too much after covering your boots with stockings!

  41. The Jilted Age

@ Katherine: Please don’t mistake me. There was nothing passive-aggressive, self-pitying or rude about my comment. I was simply and mildly stating that I liked the aesthetic, but found the price tag unrealistic for my own budget.

This is my first time commenting on an entry, not my first time reading the blog.

Do try to hold your horses.

  42. Ellen

You are amazing and truely inspiring! I know I’m old enough to be your mother and maybe too old to wear the clothing you create/purchase, but not too old to appreciate greatness!! That you are!!!

  43. harriet

    Katherine…
I am never shocked when Luxirare buys 200 or 300 dollar truffles that get eaten in one night, even though most people would say that is WAY more extravagant than a piece of clothing that can last you forever. Yet these new clothes seem unbelievably too expensive for their worth to me.

I am floored that Luxirare can afford all this shit, and I thought she was someone like us, struggling to get by in the world, but it is made clear more and more that it is all about the money. I know this is NOT normal. I am well-off for an average citizen and this seems more extravagant than some celebrities would pay. How the hell does luxirare do it?

One possibility is that Luxirare is indeed famous or has a famous mother – this could contribute to why she blurs out her face.

  44. harriet

Oh, and if Luxi didn’t want us to know how much stuff costs, she wouldn’t put up the link to the page to buy it. There is zero chance in HELL that any of her readers will actually purchase it. She makes it abundantly clear the cost of things.

  45. Ginger

Your “to the floor” post REALLY reminds me of these artworks that I saw years ago… http://zerocomplex.deviantart.com/gallery/#Hey-Robot-Hey-Human

Some of the photos resonate with that post SO well!!!!! Love you luxi :)

  46. Christine

Those pants are great, I saw a DIY video of how to make a look-a-like pair but I’m sure the feel just wouldnt’ be the same. I really like the features on your site, it took me a while to get used to the navigation but it actually makes alot of sense if you just spend a few minutes figuring it out. & it’s definitely worth it!!

  47. Trista

    Absolutely exquisite.

  48. pandora

Harriet, give the girl a break. She wants to create and share with everyone. I read this blog alongside my thrifty chic blogs because it varies from most of the others, in the way that she does wear designer clothes. For me this blog is inspirational. Like the Vogue of the blogging world! Luxirare is a different perspective and very original even if she is from the richer side of the pond. It’s like saying more affluent peeps shouldn’t blog incase they make you insanely jealous…no? If she doesn’t want to show her face surely that’s her business.

  49. Pascal

To the readers of “LUXIRARE” complaining about how ridiculously expensive the trousers are… Please make note of this fact: things that are of luxury and also rare are usually not a bargain.

  50. Harriet

But she’s young like us! How does she do it? It makes me want to cry tears. I absolutely LOVE to see her creations, but I get sad when its two freaking thousand dollar things :(

  51. kaylene

I love how people talk about you as if this is a forum talking about a fictional character. All the more entertaining.

Your hooded shirt is really beautiful. I think i need something like this myself.

  52. Rosanna

Harriet, if you found out where Luxirare gets her money would you truly feel any better? It’s nobodies business, and if it makes you uncomfotable then don’t bother reading the blog….this is truely a “personal” style blog. I doubt she plans her outfits to be acessible, she’s just sharing her visions with whoever chooses to watch.

  53. Jenni

I absolutely love your postings. I’m curious as to how you got the front to drape like that. I wish that your fashion posts would come with a bit of instruction for those of us who would like to make our own! You’re truly inspiring… and I’m totally jealous that you can afford such fabulousness as those Haider leggings I’ve been wishing I was rich to buy. I’m glad they’re in the hands of a creative genius like yourself though.

Any chance in a pattern tutorial or a list of where you buy your fashion supplies? (like all of that chain for that to die for jacket).

  54. Alex

With respect to those who are commenting on the prices of things; sometimes fashion isn’t accessible, sometimes it’s aspirational or inspirational. The name of the blog is a clue! Luxurious and rare – it’s not called Affordoblog!

I also can’t afford these clothes but am very inspired by Luxirare’s aesthetic and would try to put together a Luxirare look using more inexpensive items or vintage items. I’m sure Luxirare finds this talk of money distasteful and perhaps we should try and focus on the beauty, fantastic cut and artistic qualities of the pieces she wears and creates. We should focus on the overall visual impact of her style and not whether we have the budget to go out and and replicate this look piece by piece. There are plenty of high street style blogs for those interested in doing that.

  55. Harriet

I don’t think she finds talking about money distasteul. After all, my comments had to be moderated but still they went up. They weren’t censored. That is actually one of the best things about Luxirare, she doesn’t censor the shit out of her blog. If it we’re my blog I’d probably go back and delete ALL of the comments about price, good and bad. But Luxirare is better than that.

My shock about the price tags doesn’t say anything about her, it only says stuff about me.. that I have issues with money, that I’m insecure or sad about being poorer than others, etc. There is nothing inherently wrong with spending a ton of money on clothes. I just wish I could.

  56. Rackk and Ruin

aahhhh Haider is such a genius . . . and as a Vermonter i’ve always dreamt of having leather pajamas in the winter. alas, I don’t think my boyf would like rubbing his leg up against a cold zipper in the middle of the night though! pfff

  57. BereX

    Heyyyyy Luxirare!!!! Awesome!!!!!
    1st. Great taste
    2nd. beautifull tecnic

YOU are such an inspiration for all (i know i can speak for all)….

Im a Gastronomy formal student and a Fashion lover so now you can tell how much i love your blog………

    xoxo

PS: I copy your Pie Pops for a Bachelorette party and they love them and now they love your blog too…. and im looking foward to copy the Bento Box for my Fiance…. hihihihihih

  58. fashion roadkill

You are a talented artist. And the De Couture bag/neckpiece is tdf.

  59. luxirare

You are exactly like me haha

  60. luxirare

Yea, I love Luisaviaroma too because they have the best selection out there. And all the detail zooms aren’t so bad either.

  61. luxirare

Definitely, he does that whole european deconstructed look, you know layering, asymmetry, light flowy fabrics draped on casually.. but its not cliche to me…He’s exceptional.

  62. luxirare

    Hi Joey,
I’m going to do a post on lens, camera, equipment I use for people…they seem to be so curious about it..

  63. luxirare

Thanks for such a sweet comment Berex! I’m happy you’re actually one of the few who try the things I post!

  64. luxirare

The front drape was done by cutting a square, and then I rotated the square 45 degree, and then at the top point I started cutting down about 8 inches. Now you basically have a diamond shaped fabric on the bias that has a cut, so you have two tabs. I criss crossed the tabs and pinned it down the back.

  65. Harriet

I wanna say im sorry luxi. Ive grown to like the pieces you bought and it’s fine to treat yourself. I apologize.

  66. Melissa Dominic

Ohhh, I really love this outfit! A LOT.

  67. Josh

DAMN, I WANT ONE OF THOSE HOODED TOPS. It looks very simple, light and comfortable but it’s incredibly alluring.

  68. grace

LOVE your hooded shirt and your pants! : )
well, I love the jacket and the bag too, but when you put them all together it just seems too much flaring fabric covering you.. (well, except in your 5th pic from the bottom it looks classy)

but still, cant deny that you have an exquisite taste and choice definitely! :)

  69. Sys

You wearing those pants like that with the heavy boots and the flare effect I see as yet another indication that the “weight” in the “fashion silhouette” is moving from the shoulders to the calves/feet. I have been thinking about making some huge leg warmers, but this is a far more stylish way to create this silhouette. I’m guessing poet sleeves might follow soon?

  70. luxirare

I love exaggerated poet sleeves, very annoying when you go grocery shopping though.

Yes I do believe that platforms and huge heels are not going to disappear any time soon.

  71. luxirare

Its okay, I didn’t find your comments mean, they were honest and respectful enough.. and its no big deal, you are entitled to your opinion.

    Thanks for your comments Harriet.

  72. Cassie

    Hi Luxi,

Love the sueded zipper pants! I imagine it would be hot like leather. But anyway, beautiful pairing with the drapey backless mesh top and the viktor & rolf jacket. Your designs constantly inspire me. By the way, Tommy Ton featured Susie’s jacket that you made on his jak&jil blog! :)

    here’s the link: http://jakandjil.com/blog/?p=3369

Looking forward to your next post!

  73. TRYING TO STUDY

i love how innovating and interesting your style is! and how kind and receptive you are to all the people who follow your blog, ask questions and leave comments! you are a true artist, thank you x

  74. Kahliaaaaaa

Ur amazing and i love everything you do lol. I just wanted to know if ur self taught or did u go to school?. also whats ur sign?

  75. BereX

    Lux
(regarding your comment on the high heels with SYS, Hi SYS!!)
i love Poet Sleeves too but I love huge heels more that anything in wolrd
I’ll pray for them not to disappear!!!!

    xoxoxoxo

  76. luxirare

I’ve been asked this twice already ahhah! I’m a capricorn.. =P

  77. Stoich91

Cool! The contrast of the purse makes everything un-goth and totally chic. Yeah, insane prices are a litte much to choke down, though. Fashion doesn’t need to be consignment shop cheap, but this blog is hosted by a wealthier handmaiden than it initially appears, so when readers see the insane price tags that are hot off the press on this blog *every* *single* *day*….you cough, at first, I think. :) Maybe that is why Pie Pops are more liked; they can be applied to the everyday life of someone who, perhaps has creativity, and not so much money. True fashion is, like art, something that should never come with a price tag that leaves majority of the world in the dust. Still, it’s purtty cool and inspiring, so I like! :)

  78. THE MERCER REVIEW

Great purchase- I love the lines that the unzipped silhouette of the pants make on the body. The outfit as a whole reminds me of Rick Owens S09 which I love.

  79. luxirare

Thanks! I just saw your website, its beautifully designed!

  80. Genista

As always an amazing outfit with such a dramatic silhouette!. I love your blog because it gives me inspiration for creating my own look with interesting drapes and layering that I probably wouldn’t have thought of, on my teeny tiny student budget [oh the joys of being a first year- you can eat, or buy shoes, not both.]

It has to be said though, some of the comments on here make this seem like a cult rather than a fashion/ food blog. You’re like some sort of internet deity now :D

I have to say some of the comments here make

  81. luxirare

Far from being an internet deity, there are other bloggers who are far more popular than I am. I doubt I have the ability to be a cult leader or a leader, nor would I want such a responsibility. I just enjoy being able to share the work I do with others in hopes that they enjoy it/get inspired as well.

  82. JW

AMAZING, everything amazing. but i do long to see them zipped tight …

  83. Sheffie

    Hi Luxi,

great outfit combo! just wondering what fabrics you used to create the top? it has fantastic drape!

  84. luxirare

You can click on the link, they are shown zipped tight at luisaviaroma.com. =)

  85. luxirare

    its organza and washed silk

  86. Robyn

fantastic outfit! haider is one of my favorites!

i’m really intrigued by the stockings over the boots look. i’d love to try this out myself, do the stockings run easily?

  87. luxirare

Nope, if they’re thick they don’t. If they’re thin I bet 100% they would rip!!
I used super opaque ones… Haider is one my faves too.

  88. Wrecked Stellar

    rad photos and illustration!

  89. T

Hello, love your site! This outfit is really beautiful. Maybe because I’m a scholar read (geek) LOL I’ve always had a tendre for long flowy poetic sleeves especially with the juxtapositon of black asymmetrical streamlined edges. I also like the transparency of the top with the opaque velvet of the stockings and leggings. Nice contrast of textures and materials, it’s not easy to build such a story with one color and I’ve always admired people like Ackerman, R. Owens, and G, Pugh who seemed to have mastered this technique. They do with texture what Margiela does with proportions. :) Question, where are your gloves from?- Thanks :) -T

  90. Marisa Notarnicola

    Beautiful!!!

I tried the pie-pops as well for an “alternative” Thanksgiving pumpkin pie… they were gone INSTANTLY! Fabulous Idea…

I just ordered the food-safe silicone… going to attempt a pinecone for the christmas holidays :)

Looking forward to your next posts :)

  91. TheShoeGirl

I don’t think I’ve ever commented but I am always looking.
I just wanted to say that you are amazing and you bring fashion to a whole new level. Wow.

    <3

  92. Lina

Can I ask what you think about Lady Gaga?

  93. ++MIRA++

lux- i always love ure play on silhouettes and sheer and solid fabrics. and this is more of an observation, but it seems u tend to lean to white and black fabrics, and solid not patterns, which is interesting. for some reason though if u had worn this in red (insert little red riding hood joke here) i dont feel like it would have fit ure persona. which brings me to think of why i have a certain image of u, when i dont really know u and all i have is a glimpse through a black and white kaldeiscope of what u chose to show us.anywayss.s..im getting toooo philosophical.enough mira i know.

  94. Absinthe

    Hi Luxirare,

This is my favourite of all the outfits you have posted. I really love it when you create such towering silhouettes. I want that hooded top/dress/tunic you created so badly, I’m actually thinking of asking someone to copy it for me. Didn’t think it would be right if I didn’t get your permission first, though.

So, pretty please, with lots of caviar and black truffle shavings on top, could I duplicate it? I won’t do it if you say no (because I do think it would be fair enough if you didn’t like the idea.)

  95. JoAnn

Hi! I was just wondering… where do you take these pictures? Do you have a completely white room in your house that you just use for pictures? ^_^ I always had that question in the back of my mind!

  96. mustardqueen

the top makes your back look amazing!! Was just wondering, do you have/will ever get a tattoo? Just curious :)

  97. Farrah

You’ve got the perfect back! :)

  98. luxirare

I love when I get comments that have nothing to do with the post! They are always fun to read haha.

  99. luxirare

I think she’s a symbol of our times, a reflection of wants and desires and whatever our generation is thinking, sifted and distilled through the most “pop” execution possible. She knows what she’s doing and is probably going to stick around for a while. Not a fan of her music (though I won’t change the station say, if her song is on) but I don’t deny she is brilliant in her own way.

But what does an opinion even matter. Everyone thinks they are the best/or that they are the most special (yay for delusion!). Lady Gaga is able to hold people’s attention span for more than one minute in the most cluttered generation of our times. Look at the amount of “fashion designers” and “rock bands” there are, look at the amount of “companies” there are. The fact that a huge amount of people are paying attention to her and buying her records is shocking and surprising because in this day in age its terribly difficult to hold anyone’s attention span unless you’re remarkable and she is definitely remarkable/works hard at keeping up her aura.

  100. luxirare

It may be available soon..in the Luxirare store.

  101. Reader

I Love your clothes. Where can one buy them?!

  102. Enterrement de vie de jeune fille

J’adore le perfect et ton blog est magnifique bravo

  103. cindy

First time commenting, but just had to say how inspiring your site has been to me, watching you create so many things from scratch. Your illustrations are so pretty too! The hooded shirt dress is amazing but it would look weird from the back when the hood’s let down… it would cover the awesome back. Keep up with your awesomeness and I’m really looking forward to more of your creations. (:

  104. Diann

    Pwrfect. luxirare.com is the shit.
