Fur Tails

I’m working on some new things, hopefully I’ll have some fun posts up soon. If you like the dress featured in this post, it will go on for sale in the vintage section of my shop within 2-3 days, and there are some new tails featured in this post available now in the shop.
I know some of you guys had trouble contacting me at the shop e-mail (some of them bounced back) but don’t hesitate to e-mail me at my regular account (luxirare@luxirare.com) for any shop related questions. I answer shop-related e-mails as promptly as I can, before any others that pop up in my mailbox.

Such an odd accessory, but I’m crazy about it! These are beautiful. That purple/blue is a stunning color
that dress is pure sex, you wear it well! and I love the idea of playing with tails as accessories..oddly dark but kind of enticing.
LOVE the tails! Hmmmm…perhaps another purchase from the store. I think there will be stiff competition for that dress.

Hi, first off: I’m a longtime reader and admirer.
Secondly: Do you have any idea what goes on in the fur industry? They fucking skin the animals alive and leave them to bleed in a fucking basket. People think they know, but they don’t. There’s nothing kosher about it. They don’t kill the animals first, they fucking strip them live and aware. Please watch some footage.
I was never a PETA person, never an advocate, but after seeing what really happens, after vomiting from disgust and horror, I like to make sure people know.
Please be aware before you take part in such a grisly crime.
They aren’t skinned alive. Skinning them alive takes more time and effort than skinning them dead. The animal will try to attack the person causing injury to the fur and the human. And since I’m pretty sure the “footage” you are talking about is the one with the tanuki being skinned alive, watch it again. Note the bodies the live one is laying on are clean (no blood). This means they were skinned the correct way. When they are dead. Also if you learned Chinese you would be able to hear people in the back asking why he is doing that way and commenting on who he is doing it wrong. Learn your facts before you attack people and they’re ways of livelihood.

And now it looks like I’m yelling because of your default comment-font
oh darling! its so great to see YOU back in front of the camera.
Hope your taking care of yourself and trying to get a bit of rest through all the hecticness!
You looking good doll
Cheers,

i love the handcuff detail.
is it possible for you to make these in faux fur? i mean…it is ridiculous that these are real. totally gross actually. i don’t need to elaborate as it was done above but, these would be cool if fake. any thoughts?
well fuck me sideways
love the site, love the fashion, love the photos
but fur just ain’t right
in fact it’s completely fucked
D:
keep up the good work though
minus the sads
Awesome site, and Iove the dress. But really-if the fur was faux fur, fine, but You shouldn’t be “okay” with real fur. Its cruel and heartless to kill animals for the sake of fashion. Believe me i LOVE fashion but i could never wear fur knowing that im carting around part of a dead animal.
I have to agree about the use of fur..not necessary…hoping they are faux.
Love the body-con dress! Animal tails? Less so!
I would probably have less aversion to these products if you had raised, killed, skinned and tanned these foxes yourself, and then prepared a ragout from their flesh. That is the level of detail I have come to expect from La Luxirare.
Perhaps you could try your hand at some faux for those of us who relate too closely to the other mammals?
If anyone could make fake fur look good, it would be you.
To the complainers:
Wah wah wah.
Humans have been using fur since the dawn of time. If you’re so bothered by it then DO SOMETHING asides from whining to a comment box. I expect you all to be vegan as well.. otherwise keep it to yourself.
I personally avoid faux altogether and choose the sustainable eco-friendly choice – real.
And does it say the source of these furs? They could be vintage for all we know. Shut up.
To Luxirare:
I do not have the chops or occasion to wear such an accessory, although I would love one for my room.
Excellent craftsmanship as usual and very slinky dress.
Superb! I love the dress. This is absolutely my style.
Dark/Pagan details but not over the top, unique, and just the right amount of sexy.
Fur is a classic and is durable/comfortable.
Faux-fur/leather is cheap and obvious.
I hope all the complainers have fun wearing their plastic/rubber garments.
I hope you have fun carting around dead body parts!
Have fun trying to sleep at night, heartless bitch.
Love the fur tails, agree with a lot of the comments about using fur is absolutely horrid and yes I am a little disgusted by using fur for fashion…
But I really don’t think anyone should give you crap. How many people that are against fur have leather bags, boots a jacket. And how many people do you think are NOT vegan/vegetarian. I would just like to say before you start bitching at one single women whose NOT skinning animals alive but making something very beautiful even though it may be sad. Before you go off on luxirare think of how hypacritcal you sould unless you live a completely vegan lifestyle. But garuenteened that isnt the case and many of you people probably eat meat that comes from animals that live in absolutely disgusting environments before they are slautered in masses and shoved down your throats.
You craftmenship is absolutely incredable.
Sorry for spelling..
True–the tails are fierce! but seriously real fur? I agree with the earlier post. It’s a sickening, inhumane process and for what? A needless accessory? You can get the same amazing look with faux fur. C’mon people it’s 2010– have a heart and a conscience.
First of all, this is a very cute idea, and although i do object to the fur trade, i dont feel any resentment to you or your ideas!
And a word to the wise to all those above who are suggesting faux fur.
NOTE: Recent news has revealed that a lot of what is being sold as “faux fur” is actually coming from animals! A lot of this “faux’” fur coming from overseas is actually produced from wild or stray dogs, whose thick and almost plastic-y fur can pass for the artificial substitute, and is cheaper to produce than the factory made faux fur. These animals are treated and killed equally as cruelly, if not more, as those in the actual fur trade. So before you get too “holier than thou” about buying your fake fur, be sure you really know where its coming from!
Hey babe
Long time Luxirare lover here. But I am really REALLY disappointed to see you using fur in your fashion. From your personal expression through your art and your responses to comments, it is clear you have a very beautiful nature. So why would you choose to do something so heartless in the name of looking good? I generally like to make my own choices without preaching about them. But I’m shocked to think that such an obviously intelligent woman as yourself, in this day and age, doesn’t feel ashamed about, nor see how incredibly selfish and superficial it is to use fur in fashion. NO excuses can suffice. I’m a vegan. But I am a realistic one, as I believe using second hand animal products is actually better for the environment, and the animals within it, than using first hand synthetic products. I see nothing wrong with making good use of something that already exists. However, looking at the condition of them, these tails are obviously NOT vintage. And therefore the animals which they once belong to, lived a restrictive and very un-happy life and died very painfully just so you could have a pretty little key chain. C’mon hon, you’re a better human than that. Remember, what you put out is what you will receive. Don’t subscribe to creating such negativity in the world.
my hat is off to katherine… just sayin’
but seriously, wow! i love these and wish i could own one myself – so versatile and i like the almost stripper vibe of the dress, but you wear it so well!
oh my goodness, you absolutely must tell me how to purchase one of these i cant find them anywhere
@ Nauviet in my shop? https://shopluxirare.com/web/shopping/main.php?act=list&rc=&pc=1&mc=1&lc=&sid=&mid=
LOVE this sight. LOVE your fashion, but FUR? Really? Did you know those animals were either electrocuted through their ANUS and/or their VAGINA to death (or near death)? Or they were gassed (there are other methods, too) and often times they are skinned alive.
Kudos! On creating a horrific and barbaric fashion. It looks terrible with the beautiful look you otherwise have created.
The debate over fur in the fashion industry has been around for a LONG time. And as a wildlife advocate, I’d firmly against what goes on at overseas fur farms, especially those in China.
But the idea that every single fur farm out there skins their animals alive is a fallacy put out by overly self-righteous fanatics like PETA.
What many people don’t bother to understand is that here in the United States, there are very strict regulations when it comes to raising and harvesting animals for fur. It’s certainly not the best existance, that’s for certain, but the foxes born and raised on major North American fur farms are required by law to have clean cages of an acceptable size, proper food and water, and must be killed in a manner deemed humane. Failure to comply with the aforementioned would land the farms multiple animal cruelty charges (one per affected animal) and they’d be put out of business almost instantly.
In addition, most furriers won’t buy pelts with tails on them, or will simply throw the tails out when they sort the furs for garment use. Which means that, in a way, this is actually recycling the parts which would otherwise be thrown to waste.
That said, there is no reason to kill any animal just for its fur. At least with cows, we are consuming their meat as well as using their hide for clothing. But the bodies of these foxes simply go to waste, which I personally find disturbing.
The solution I came up with was to talk with local and out-of-state Fish and Game Departments. Most of them collect and process roadkill for auctions to help raise money for conservation efforts, or sell pelts siezed from poachers and illegal traplines. They often have a pretty large inventory of pelts and tails that I can buy to make into keychains. I also use tails off of vintage stoles and coat fringe.
So if you’re going to continue selling these tails, I would certainly suggest taking the more eco-friendly route. Talk with your local Fish and Game reps, or branch out and try other states as well. What ever you do, please don’t buy any more tails (or any fur product for that matter) from Asian countries. It’s not pretty.
we have the best fox tail keychains with leather tassels in all colors. you will love them.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THESE!!

gorgeous – the tails are fab – great post x
You people are pathetic!
Don’t you have anything worthwhile to do.
I stumbled onto this site looking for some ideas for my fur trade.
I trap, and shoot, and skin all my fur bearing mammals that are in season. I assure you none are skinned alive!
What do you people do come here and watch this woman in the skimpy dress! Wow. I thought I was weird.
Get over it people. It’s gorg!
what do you wear underneath this dress? nothing? a little chanel no 5?
I was so fond of your site looking through your inventive culinary creations, until I saw this. Extremely disappointing to see that not only you, but so many commentators condone the use of fur. Faux fur is OBVIOUSLY more humane than needlessly killing animals for fashion, so those saying it isn’t are extremely mistaken. And I also find it disappointing that you refuse to address any negative commentators, not even to back yourself up? At least address the issue, since obviously it is such a controversial subject.
So, if you would, please explain why you refuse to use faux fur. Thank you.
