French toast sticks, anyone?
Priorities: Getting some restaurant brioche loaves from Balthazar, and then doing a minimal french toast setup with 2 dipping sauces, no maple syrup… If you’ve been around the block with brioche, you’ll know that Balthazar’s really the only one worth eating.

Lost my gloves. Oh well.

Dark chocolate…

Prepare cream for both the chocolate and mascarpone… Dipping sauce?

I added some heat to the chocolate, cayenne pepper. To the mascarpone, apple pie spice..and maple syrup flakes. You are free to do whatever you want with this though!

Chocolate and Salt. Need I say more? I think not.

Instead of dunking the sticks into a batch of eggs and milk, just lightly brush it. Don’t go too heavy. You want these to be light and airy instead of custard-y. Doesn’t the photo below feel very American Psycho? Confused by that statement? As if this whole blog doesn’t feel that way? Yes, I know… But the photo below, extra so.

………..I prefer the chocolate and salt? Sorry mascarpone.

LOVE it! Such beautiful pictures too. Where did you get that apple pie spice from?? Have been trying to find powdered flavourings in the UK but no joy.
You’re crazy. As always. And your creations drive me nuts… in a good way
chocolate + fleur de sel is sooo underrated, definitely a taste worth spreading the word! love your posts as always!

Ahah, I love that american psycho self assessment. These look yummy, I would choose the mascarpone as I’m not such a chocolate fan. In France this recipe is made to use old bread, too dry to be eaten like that, that’s why we add the batter and that we need to dip the bread into it so it softens. Brioche doesn’t need softening and I bet it would decompose if dipped into the batter. American French toasts are really good, but so much more fattening and rich than the French “pain perdu”
Ooh I would have these anytime
!!!
Your creativity knows no bounds. Thank you for each and every one of your posts. They’re the perfect dose of design porn.

Oddly enough I had never thought of American Psycho when looking at your blog. I had simply enjoyed the measured and clean aesthetics. But, now that you mention…….
The french toast looks beautiful AND tasty!
Very cool. Where did you get the flakes and the apple pie spice?? I HAVE TO TRY THIS !!!
i just saw american psycho and half read the book
im just happy i got the reference!! but beautiful presentation as always. i like the geometric cubical shavings of bread that’s going on
Scrumptious idea!
I’d like to place two orders to go, one with chocolate and the other with…do you have salted caramel sauce? Kthxbye
And come on, commenters, don’t be so lazy; no need to ask our host when you can Google stuff yourself and find it (LMGTFY…). Google “maple syrup flakes” and you’ll see Williams Sonoma carries them.
So happy someone else said this. Don’t be lazy people!
you’re not really getting the point of ‘social’ media are you… the whole point is to get involved, discussions etc. I really think it’s a shame you find asking questions is lazy, it’s not like people are going ‘where can I buy salt?’. Personally, I’d like to know what type of apple pie spice they recommend as we don’t have it in the UK so god only knows what I’d end up with. Nothing wrong with getting involved!

I hope I’m not the only one who thought this exchange was really funny
To be told someone is lazy to ask a question is absurd. As you may know the author of this page is willing to answer questions. So until I hear from her saying I shouldn’t be LAZY then I’ll just keep asking the questions. Oh and BTW MYOB. Thanks
I love you!
hi there,
was wandering where your knife block was from?
you’re the best blog out there, you said you thought it would be cool to meet your fans, well if you’re ever in london then coffee it is.
This is crazy … crazy good. You’re a very intense and interesting blog writer in deed.
Loulou
that look sooooooooo yummy. How I wish I could join you for breakfast one day.
Nah, not American Psycho, from the very first glimpse I cast at your blog I thought, “Holy freakin fuck, she’s the real-life-female Dexter.” Your site is genius.
do you brew your own iced coffee? maybe there was a post about this and i missed it.
This looks amazing!
Fresh toast is my absolute favourite breakfast item – these just look so divine!

INSIDE IN INSIDE OUT
“Doesn’t the photo below feel very American Psycho? Confused by that statement? As if this whole blog doesn’t feel that way” This made me crack up oh my god. Is there some dead body under the table I’m meant to be seeing? I do get your point though. It’s the white leather somehow, isn’t it…
The brushing rather than dipping idea is very useful, and that brioche looks divine now. French toast is so simple and you’ve just turned it into… sexy food, I like it. I have to say that I don’t think I’ve ever come across chocolate + salt and will have to get my hands on some quality dark chocolate and rock salt to try this out properly!
Luxirare always felt to me like a blog written by a serial killer. and that’s why i love it. you used to wear leather gloves in all of your old posts!
I agree, it’s clinical but beatuiful. Fanatstic work as usual Lux!
To me, the most iconic scene of American Psycho will always be the one where he’s peeling off his facial mask. I don’t know, I suppose I’ve always felt that your blog has a quintessential Kubrick aesthetic. It’s like watching a would-be film of his.
This year has been so good for you. You’re less stressed and more relaxed, evident both in the more personal content of your posts and your physiology. You’re letting your hair down and your nails grow out – taking a well deserved breather. Hope frigid January is treating you well.
Thanks for the gorgeous photos, as uzhe.

Amazing. Love your posts. Everything about you is so NY but at the same time…not…you are so much more unique that the ‘typical’ new york artist. But I guess there is a big variation, so many great artists in NY. You are an inspiration!
I LOVE the whole lifestyle brand aesthetic of Luxirare
dark chocolate and salt, who woulda thought they made a good couple. Love the pictures, and your set up! Tres bien!
May I suggest “Manhattan Special Espresso Coffee Soda” as an alternative for this indulgence.
how do you do your labelling? its awesome. i would love to organize like that, makes life much easier.
BADASS.
