Fall 2004
I know that Ghesquiere is called out for lifting other designer’s work verbatim, but he was one of the first designers in college that I really got excited about. I think in a way he sort of redefined womenswear. Before Ghesquiere, designers were either “unwearable and fanstastically creative” (like Galliano, Mugler, and JPG) or they were “commercial and wearable”. Ghesquiere sort of made me realized you don’t have to compensate for the two, that it can be both. He bridged the gap without compromising for creativity. This was one of my favorites of Ghesquiere, I think its fall 2004.

i love those aviator jackets, so beautiful and perfect
Ghesquiere is amazing, there hasn’t been one collection he’s done that I’ve hated. My favourite is F/W 2008
FW 2007 is the collection that got me into fashion, and I’m going through a major SS 2008 phase right now. I agree that he makes high fashion seem attainable. Those jackets are gorgeous (especially since they look so cozy!).
I discovered that he also copied a vintage EWMI leather jacket for resort. He is a gifted designer, so I don’t know why he feels as he has to do these kinds of things, and with the internet, people find out right away.
he is still one of my favorites…. and those jackets are to die for

I started design school in Fall of 2004. It was a great season!!!
The iconic Aviator jackets….oh if only I could get my hands on one. Ghesquiere is pure genius…I cannot get enough of his work. I wish there was a book or biography out there about him and his work, I find him so fascinating and inspirational. x
