Business/Casual
9-5, then 7-3.
Lets start with 9-5 first.

The best non-label label in the whole world.

Now onto Luxirare’s invisible uniform. A simple shift dress with princess seams and a v-top stitch. This muslin may look easy but shift dresses with princess seams are actually one of the hardest things to fit. But then again, we all know the simplest things are the hardest to design/construct.

Top stitching the seams.

Now lets start building the layers of this motherf***ker.

Addition of the Girdle, an accessory I promised to incorporate into my wardrobe in my previous post and Velvet thigh highs. I love these because they are just thigh high leggings attached onto a heel basically. So comfortable. From snaz75. I own half of the sites merchandise and wear these cheap ass shoes more than designer shoes. Sad.

Possibly the most uncomfortable blazer, ever. The most impractical design choice. Perhaps this is the point, to challenge the wearer. Hell I can’t even place a shoulder bag with this!

Going!

Lets move onto after work. What to wear when you go out? Don’t ask me because I usually dress like this (scary!)

My fave black bag. They are out in EVERY color under the sun now but nothing beats the black. Nothing.

April 13th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
Actually, Margiela hasn’t officially retired. He’s just cut back on how much hands-on designing he does for the brand. He’s still working and overseeing everything though.
April 13th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
Now that I can speak again… that fucking blazer totally takes my breath away, so weird that you posted it because i was watching some of his peak shoulder stuff on ebay last night… little did i know luxirare was going to post the real deal.
Both outfits are incredible.. the going out ones looks almost exactly like my going out clothes (plus a biker jacket) anyway I think you’re amazing and this post is my favorite of yours so far
April 13th, 2009 at 10:56 pm

April 13th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
the plaid + lingerie + tshirt dress + brenda = amazing!!!
April 13th, 2009 at 11:20 pm
I’ve always loved that MMM jacket, but never once thought about how impractical it might be. My favorite element though is the Luxirare personal label. Love it as usual, and I must check out this shoe site that you talk about…

April 14th, 2009 at 7:25 am
You’re right, fully impractical but really, who cares when you look that awesome? Digging the zippy garter belt too.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:51 am
the most inspirational blog on the web right now? i think so. that jacket is… ugh. beyond words.

the jacket is 700 u.s so $1000 australian, don’t think i can get it quite yet!! but hopefully another one (in black) will pop up some time soon…
yeah it actually is really fucking weird.. right down to the smallest thing, you share my aesthetic in just about everything.!
April 14th, 2009 at 9:59 am
To whoever made the comment about Gaga and Margiela – she rocks him in her concert. The beige jacket with the ginormous shoulders. I think she wore it when she came out singing “Boys, Boys, Boys” which made all the gays squeal with delight.
Please tell me that I will see you traipsing around the streets of Manhattan in that getup come May!!!!!!!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 10:07 am
the jacket is amazing… tried it on myself and cried upon realizing i needed a smaller size which, of course, was not happening.
the dress is equally as amazing – props to you for making it yourself – it’s a gorgeous garment.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
shuttup! this is so amazing! i love both looks. you pull them off well. seriously your wardrobe is killer. between you and foxy, my head starts spinning out of control.
i’ve probably said this before, but i so wish i could prance around like this on my time off. orange county is such an unforgiving hell hole. i’ve worn versions similar to this. big tee, flannel, biker jacket, fishnets and boot. you should have seen the awful stares i got. seriously, have you seen the real houswives of orange county? welcome to my life.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Impracticality aside, this whole ensemble and the building of it is quite astounding….
April 14th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
You’re the shit. Props for the Margiela and your label too!
April 14th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
You’re damn right about fitting a princess seam shift dress!

HI Luxirare!
I used my last e-mail (maryannhahn213@yahoo.com) to e-mail about the cod. And I thought you didn’t reply, and I got kinda sad about it. But then, I checked my spam, and there it was! Since March!!! Lame. Anyways, thanks for that e-mail, it means a lot!
I really like this post, because it just feels so legit ( I think I’ve mentioned this before). And you have knowledge of even the minute details. I’m not a fashion/art major, or whatever, but it is something I really appreciate.
loveee!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Maryann,
Yes I remember writing to you I’m glad you finally got the e-mail!
Hope you had luck with the dish..

You can get away with shirts as dresses because your the perfect height for it. Whenever I've tried it's like…no, pants time. Hopefully soon I'll be able to start wearing them once a big problem is goneeeee once and hopefully for all.
Miss your face <3

GAWD! you just killed me.
but seriously with that finishing line and crisp texture that is captured so well in the photos – who needs practicality rite?
April 15th, 2009 at 8:58 am
jesus fucking christ luxirare!! i am literally speechless. i’ve been dying for a great chainmail cape since i dressed as Joan of Arc for halloween a while ago. you rock.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:55 am
i don’t even know where to start. i pretty much share the views of Manfox. Speechless and just amazed!
That blazer is out of this world. Love the girdle too!

April 15th, 2009 at 11:57 am
That jacket is unbelievably unbelievable. May look a bit odd from behind but who cares.. its amazing! Paired with your invisible dress (love the label) and the leather girdle…I’m stunned. Seriously.
April 15th, 2009 at 1:10 pm

You might want to take some more fitting at the top. I don’t know about the fabric choice, it looks like a twill? Try something lightweight like a cotton jersey or a poplin that will provide you the structure but allow you some movement. No bust darts? Either that or take it in at the sides.
April 15th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
jessica-
the darts were taken in at the princess seams. There are no bust darts in a princess seam pattern because they are integrated into the seams…
oh and this is a stretch fabric not a twill.
April 16th, 2009 at 7:13 am
i might have not said this before, but: overall you (and foxyman) have the raddest style among all those fashion bloggers.
this is like the real deal. i don't need to see an outfit copied from the h&m ad's, i want to see the unique style you have!
love that!!
April 16th, 2009 at 8:59 am
*—* i like it
April 16th, 2009 at 10:30 am

You remind me so much of Jen Brill. Have you ever thought about filling in your eyebrows? I think they would add some more depth to your face.
