A CBK Fall
Just reading this entry and viewing these impeccably stylish photos of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy should tell you that you don’t need to keep up with trends or even go shopping for fall. The basics I assume will already be in your closet, and I love how CBK is comfortable with the familiar, the classic black coat and simple evening dresses. Still looking for ways to dress this coming fall and I can’t help but be swayed by the coolest lady ever. And I may have already posted some of these images before but you never get sick of perfection.

…Looking also for design inspiration, and I just want more of this style. Sometimes it is hard to design or come up with something else, because what is the point really? The classics are there, the boundaries set, and if you can tweak them in such a way that makes them modern great…But even a decade and a half later her look is still fresh.

CBK at Indochine.

Just when you thought she was some preppy from Connecticut (or wherever she is from)…she’s rocking Yohji Yamamoto. Baller, that’s right.

For fall I am definitely going to wear some simple baggy bootcut trousers and a black collared shirt, it almost reminds me of what waiters dress like in some restaurants, but I love the look below.

In her hand a minimal zip leather pouch (those Celine ones you’ve been seeing everywhere are the exact same, except the one CBK is wearing is by Comme Des Garcons like 13 years ago..).

Just love this.

I appreciate that with her access to designer clothing she does not dress like she’s going to meet Santa…For fall, this is just how I want to dress.

She isn’t wearing makeup, and it’s fine….if she is giving me an excuse to lose the brushes and powders then I will certainly indulge in some laziness for fall.

What makes me very sad is that even though I have never met her, I’m so curious about how she would dress today. How would her style have evolved…Life is so unfair. The best are always hidden, or they dissappear….And instead we just have an abundance of mediocrity.

NYC perfection
good post – agree with you on all points. especially love the ‘dressing to meet santa’ sentence, fashion is such a circus parade right now, people just look ridiculous.
A shame the first time I remember hearing about her was at her death – I was just in eighth grade then. Good to see you posting pictures about her classic style
Reminds me of Tonne Goodman
Very beautiful…. I always veer toward the graphic and colorful, but I am trying to balance it out by not wearing makeup. It’s hard to resist all the goops and powders at first, but I find that the longer I go without, the better my skin gets. I wore a full-face during nyfw, and I feel like it undid months of improvement : /
There is one outfit that I loved of hers, it was a cream boucle versace dress that she wore to some fire and ice ball or something like that.
So classic and understated – their death was truly untimely.
I loved CBK too!
Mediocrity is right. Too much. People are complacent.
She was a true beauty. I never get tired of looking at her either. And, I like your observation about her access to money in relation to how she dresses. I never thought about that.
No santa outfits! Ha
It’s like what Steve Jobs said… “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
It is all about tailoring. You can wear the most simple things, but if they are tailored to fit you perfectly you will always look stunning!
Not surprised to find out she’s a Capricorn too… Jan 7
